Medivet have an opportunity for a head registered veterinary nurse to join the team at our fantastic practice based in Bretton on a twelve month fixed term basis.

The role will involve all aspects of nursing as well as the day-to-day running of the practice, you will be responsible for a variety of nursing duties as well as sharing best practice with your team and helping to support and develop the student nurses in your practice.

This position would suit an experienced RVN looking to take the next step in their career or an experienced HRVN looking for a new opportunity. We will provide you with the opportunity to develop nursing clinics and use your initiative to promote new ideas; with full support being provided by the nursing team.

All of our head nurses are provided with dedicated support from our head-office so the stress of managing your rota, dealing with recruitment, H&S, practice standards, marketing (and much more!) is taken care of, and while there are still admin duties involved in your role this support will allow you to spend more time managing your team and doing what you love, nursing!

Salary of up to £32,500 PA

This is a full-time, 12 month fixed term role working 40 hours a week over five days with 1:3 half or 1:6 full weekends but were open to negotiation and we'd like to hear what works for you.

Key accountabilities:

- Manage the performance of the practice on a day-to-day basis.
- Ensure all team members provide quality and ethical care to all clients and their pets/livestock..
- Ensure compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statutes, policies and procedures.
- Ensure all members of the nursing staff are aware of their roles and job description, working to clear objectives set.
- Carry out regular performance reviews and update training requirements where necessary.
- Support clinical coaches with the planning of student tutorials and training where necessary.
- Rota management to always provide adequate cover of staff within the practice.
- Assess, examine and diagnose patients medical issues.
- Maintain patients medical records.

Skills and experience:

- RCVS registered.
- Commitment to animal welfare.
- Ability to keep on top of practice protocols and procedures.
- Excellent organisational skills.

Branch:

Medivet Bretton offers a wide range of complex diagnostic equipment and treatment options, including endoscopy and ultrasound. The team are lovely and extremely welcoming.

It is an exceptionally well equipped multi-vet practice that works to a high level, including: laparoscopic bitch spays, full dental suite including dental x-ray, high quality ultrasound including doppler and digital x-ray. In addition the branch has a large array of surgical equipment including TPLO kit, operating microscope and full ophthalmology diagnostic tools. Our vets have a keen interest in orthopaedic surgery and have a fully equipped orthopaedic theatre.

The team is led by our knowledgeable lead veterinary surgeon Pedro who holds a BSAVA's Post Graduate Certificate in Small Animal Surgery. The vet team are supported by a head nurse, 2 registered nurses, 2 student nurses, a patient care assistant and 2 client care assistants.
