Calling all-night owls!

We are very excited to announce that following professional feedback and an evaluation of our needs we are looking to expand our Manchester out-of-hours team based at one of our 24-hour centres (Medivet Chorley 24hr) in this region. This role has been designed from the ground up to offer a flexible, well-remunerated package ideal for a prospective night vet looking to make the most of a family-friendly work-life balance.

So what is the role?

We are looking to recruit motivated, enthusiastic night vets, we can offer flexible working patterns to suit:

4 nights on 4 nights off - salary package up to £90,000

4 nights on 12 nights off - salary package up to £45,000

If you are seeking another working pattern please email carlie.smith@medivet.co.uk to discuss what you're looking for.

These roles will be based at Chorley 24hr, a fantastic site located on the western side of Manchester in Chorley. The practice is very well equipped with all usual mod cons (digital x-ray, ultrasound, flexible and rigid endoscopy, video otoscopy, full in-house labs, etc) as well as plans to site a CT scanner at this location in the coming 18 months.

Chorley 24hr is an 8-9 vet practice with plans to grow in the future and is supported by an experienced and capable team with numerous on-site certificate holders and links to neighbouring in-region referral units meaning that your cases will be well looked after following the end of your shifts. Support during night shifts will be provided by an experienced RVN team.

This role is intended to be flexible enough to let you maintain a steady working pattern with the option to develop further. We offer our usual benefits such as:

£1500 CPD allowance

RCVS, VDS, BVA membership) as well as support for certificate work if desired

4 weeks paid sabbatical after five years of service

Night commission

There will also be the option to develop your surgical skills with support from neighbouring practices if desired and we are exploring the option to incorporate a surgical internship in the future with this role!

Who would this suit?

This role involves sole charge work working exclusively nights and will be suited for someone who ideally has at least 2 years of in-practice experience. Experience working OOH is also obviously desirable! Our day teams appreciate good communication and handover skills to ensure your patients are receiving the best quality care after you’ve left the building. It goes without saying that we are looking for caring, committed professionals who take pride in providing exceptional care to our clients – taking your pets to an emergency appointment is scary, and a calm, reassuring manner goes a long way!

How do I find out more?

If the above sounds good and you’re ready to throw your hat in the ring then we look forward to talking to you soon. If you’d like to have an informal chat first – absolutely! Please address any queries about the job role and the region in general to carlie.smith@medivet.co.uk
