Full time (approximately 37.5 hrs/week rota’s) Vet required for independent small animal 3 site Practice in South Somerset market town (Ilminster Chard and South Petherton). Own reasonable on call shared in house (1:4 nights/weekends/bank holidays etc) so you can build any experience necessary for emergency care with support without being bombarded and if more experienced not have to choose one or the other.  

Digital “normal” and dental x rays (Canon DR/Bucky and dental Digiray CR), Phillips HD11 XE doppler ultrasound, wet chemistry, “outdoor” consulting facilities still kept post Brexit for those Chicken cases or where someone “really” can’t wear a mask, with continual re investment in better kit. Good scope for funded study for further qualifications and cpd (no actual budget so long as its “sensible”). Remuneration £35-65k depending on experience and qualifications. RCVS, VDS, Professional membership etc paid. Good clinical skills needed or the capacity to learn them including some exotics and wildlife.

One half day off per week (and that means lunchtime not teatime finish) and additional half day Friday after weekend on call. 5 weeks annual leave, not confined to just your birthday…. Separate lunch/break building so you can switch off and get disturbed less often. Well established (75 years) in the locality with loyal sensible clients. There is an expectation of case and client follow up with support there if needed allowing development of a personal client base. IIP and VNTC with 3 QVN’s, one SVN and one support working together in an atmosphere where you don’t feel like you are living a game of “Risk”.

Good local facilities for families and far enough out in the sticks to be rural yet close enough to the towns for some sense of civilisation. Access to North and South coasts of the peninsula are within easy reach and the Moors are only a short drive away for those with climbing, cycling, fishing, rambling penchants.
