Vicarage Vets image

Small supportive team seeking another forward- thinking, compassionate vet to join our growing independent practice

The Practice

We are a well-established, proudly independent, family-run practice in a large village near Lincoln. We pride ourselves on providing a high standard of care whilst remaining affordable to our clients and as a result we have a loyal client base

We have an experienced team consisting of 3 Veterinary Surgeons, including a certificate holder and a skilled scanner, with a 4th vet available for holiday cover and busier periods. We are assisted by our amazing team of 4 registered veterinary nurses, a trainee RVN and 3 receptionists. We always support each other and share the work-load whilst still encouraging case continuity.

We run short consulting blocks (9-11am, 2-3pm, 4:30-6:30pm), comprised of 15-minute consults as standard and 30 minutes where possible for non-routine cases, to allow time for catch up and thorough work up of more complicated cases. Additionally, all of our consulting rooms are spacious and have windows to let in natural light which seems to be a rarity these days!

We are well-equipped with bronchoscopy, ultrasound, digital x-ray (including dental x-ray), in house lab (idexx procyte dx/catalyst one) and more and would be happy to support a vet with any special interests with additional equipment. We have recently refurbished our premises and upgraded our cat kennels, reception area and consult rooms as well as adding in a new consult room and lab and there are further renovations and upgrades in the pipe-line for 2022.

We are constantly striving to provide the best standard of care possible, including holding monthly practice meetings where new protocols can be discussed based on the latest evidence.

Our out of hours services are provided by Vets Now, however we have vets living onsite and are able to provide 24hr hospitalisation when needed for any ongoing cases.

Location

Saxilby is a large village with a Coop and some small shops, 2 pubs, medical centre and primary school. Nearby Lincoln has lots to offer for with pubs, clubs, restaurants, but steeped in history with a castle, cathedral and cobbled areas.

The Role

We are looking for a forward- thinking, compassionate vet to join our growing team. We are flexible and can offer a full or part-time position ranging from 2-4 days a week and 1 Saturday morning per month (8.30- 12.30). A standard working day involves a mixture of consults and surgery and the rota is either 8 am-6 pm or 9am-7pm and 8:30-12:30 on Saturdays. No out of hours. If you have a special interest we can adjust our rota to suit as we are always keen to expand our services and our knowledge.

Successful Candidate

Professionalism, knowledge and skills are important but as important are attitude, compassion and bedside manners as that is what our practice is known for. We are seeking a like-minded individual who values case continuity, good client relations and a varied caseload.

The Package

Very competitive salary in line with experience, RCVS membership and VDS paid for, basic health insurance. 5.5 weeks holiday. Generous CPD allowance & potential for funded certificates.
