Job Details

The George Veterinary Group

We’re a proudly independent veterinary group; due to continued expansion our fantastic team seeks a full-time colleague. We have a hospital and 3 local branch clinics.

The Practice

We encourage clinical freedom and case continuity for our vets, helping us to deliver the high standard of care to which we aspire. Our vet team is friendly and approachable; support is always available, if needed. We have a range of experience, and a number of certificate holders to learn from.

Being part of a larger group, there are plenty of opportunities for social events; we even have our own Wellbeing Group, practice Forum and a Green Group. We have recently secured a Bronze accreditation as Investors in the Environment and we are working towards the Silver award. We are very proud of what we achieve as a team.

The Role

You’ll enjoy being able to work to a very high standard, working a 4-day week and a 1:13 OOH rota. We have a superb nurse and administration team, which includes dedicated night nurses, ensuring high professional standards of care and job satisfaction. Being a Hospital we have all the equipment you would expect and our branch clinics are very well equipped too, with theatres across 3 of our 4 sites.

Successful Candidate

Applicants should have a minimum of one year’s small animal experience, although this opportunity may also suit a more experienced clinician looking for that ideal job to fulfil any professional ambitions.

The Package

  • 4-day week and 1:13 out-of-hours rota
  • CPD allowance £1750 per annum
  • RCVS fees paid
  • Staff discounts

Location

We are in a beautiful part of the country and blessed with both rural surrounds and historic towns – Malmesbury is the oldest borough in the UK, is steeped in history with its Abbey and is just a few miles from Tetbury, Cirencester and Westonbirt Arboretum, with its trees and a great social programme of year-round events, including music.

Company

Based in Malmesbury, North Wiltshire, The George Veterinary Hospital is a forward thinking team of over 35 individuals dedicated to small animals, and is one part of the larger, independently-owned George Veterinary Group. Our busy tier 3 hospital in Malmesbury has local branches at Nailsworth, Tetbury and Royal Wootton Bassett and our team experiences a wide case load. We have some exciting plans for the future as well as all the mod cons you would hope for : endoscopy, digital x-ray, multi-parameter monitor, infusion pumps and laparoscopic equipment.

As a long-established Group we have a wealth of experience in each of our individually focused department teams  and provides both preventative care and advice as well as emergency treatment. Our separate Equine Clinic team cover Wiltshire and Gloucestershire, and our Farm Vets cover this and also Bristol. We also have a dedicated Pig Practice team of 6 vets with its own administrative team covering a large part of the UK. It's an exciting place to work and a great place to develop your skills.

We have a Young Vets network, a Green Group, a Wellbeing Group and our own George Forum, each encouraging cross department sharing of ideas and initiatives which add value, support wellbeing and mental health and which ultimately provide benefits for all our employees. We come together regularly through initiatives such as Bake Offs, Charity Events, Pilates, Netball, Book Club as well as several social events, with something for everyone at The George. Come and enjoy what we can offer.
