The Role

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Registered Veterinary Nurse seeking night work with the opportunity to become a part of our dedicated night team.

Our shift pattern offers great work life balance with 7 nights on, (12 hours) and then 14 days off. There is also the opportunity for overtime during those 2 weeks. You will have two-night VCAs to offer assistance and support during the night as well as a dedicated night vet.

Night duties include answering emergency calls and seeing emergency clinics alongside the team, looking after our inpatients with gold standard care, supervising the VCA team, guiding and directing them. You will be required to be a mentor to the VCA team. You will be in charge of setting up the prep and procedure rooms for morning ops and ensuring the night runs as smoothly as possible. Client care is very high on our priorities so great customer care is also required.

Salary

Salary for the role is up to £32,000 per annum depending on experience.

About Us

Our vets have a varied range of knowledge, including internal medicine, imaging, orthopaedic, surgery and dentistry. We have excellent facilities and offer a wide range of surgery, MRI, Laparoscopic procedures, X-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy, and a fully equipped laboratory with a dedicated team, to name a few! We push our nurses to do what they do best - nurse!

We are on the North Kent and South London border with 7 other branches across the local area. We are a training hospital and are dedicated to getting the best out of our staff to further everyone's careers as much as possible, and to ensure that the working life is as fun as can be! If you would like the opportunity to join our fantastic team, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

About the Team and Culture

We have a large but family-like team with roughly 30 vets and 30 nurses as well as a strong team of around 10 VCAs. We have a dedicated reception, insurance, accounts, and lab team, meaning nurses can concentrate on actual nursing. Our vets are certificate holders in exotics, imaging, medicine, surgery, orthopaedics, and dentistry. We also have a roaming orthopaedic and cardiology specialist with an MRI machine that visits monthly. We are a fantastic close-knit team that is looking for new members to make our team even greater.

Applicant Requirements

You must have ECC experience and be at least 1 year qualified. We ask that you are RCVS registered and have general inpatient care experience. Full training will be provided, but we do require a level of experience that enables the candidate to take independent care of inpatients, as well as other night duties. You must show exceptional work ethic and be able to complete all nursing duties independently, as sole nurse.

Company

You would be forgiven for thinking that all veterinary practices are alike - after all every vet wants the very best for their patients - but the variation in service levels is as extensive in the veterinary world as it is in any other profession.

Parkvets is an accredited Tier 3 practice with all the facilities and equipment that would imply.  We manage the vast majority of our cases in-house without the need for expensive and inconvenient referral and we operate our own out-of-hours service.

To achieve this we have a team of 16 vets supported by more than 20 nurses - most of whom are fully qualified - who tend our in-patients morning, noon and night.  And our vets have over 90 years of cumluative experience, so there is not much we haven't seen.
