Looking for a practice with an amazing culture and respect for your work-life balance?

Here at Middlesbrough Vets4Pets not only do we strive to provide the best care for our clients and patients we also strive to make sure our staff feel valued and maintain their work-life balance.  We have an amazing opportunity for a small animal veterinary surgeon to join our friendly and supportive team in a role that can work around your individual commitments.

We are a well-established practice with a flourishing client base meaning you will see a variety of interesting medical and surgical cases.  Many of our clients are insured but we also offer financial assistance via Klarna and are close to a PDSA and three world class referral centres.  This allows us to provide an excellent level of care to all clients and means that whether you are a recent graduate or an experienced vet we can support you through the next stage of your career.  Our days consist of a mixture of consults and surgery, and we even provide separate time for those other time-consuming tasks like admin and client prescriptions.

We understand that everyone has individual needs and commitments which is why we offer full or part time flexible hours.  You will be joining a team of 3 Vets, led by our JVP of 12 years Katherine Goldsbrough, 3 RVNs, 3 SVNs and 5 client care coordinators.  Regular, structured team communications alongside conversational leadership ensures our colleague’s voices are heard and that we evolve as a team together.  The results are an amazing practice culture with great team values, something that has been so important facing the challenges we have over the past few years.

Being based in Middlesbrough provides excellent transport links while being close to the coast and the beautiful North Yorkshire Moors National Park.  You can follow in the footsteps of Dracula in Whitby, discover hiking trails across the moors or learn to surf at Saltburn beach- all within an hour’s drive.

We are offering a salary of up to 60K along with the excellent benefits you would expect from a major veterinary employer including a generous relocation package.  We welcome colleagues from overseas and offer fully funded visa sponsorship.

This is what some of our previous vets had to say about working with us:

‘I worked in Middlesbrough vets4pets for almost 2 years, and it really helped my career. I've been able to see a great variety of cases daily, I've improved my surgical skills and gained a lot of experience quickly. The whole team is very friendly and supportive, from reception to fellow vet colleagues are always happy to give advice/help with cases, it feels like a big family. Good work-life balance as well.’

‘After I finished a rotating internship in a referral practice in the UK, I needed more primary care practice experience and worked at Middlesbrough Vets4Pets for 10 months. The varied case load and busy environment allowed me to acquire valuable primary care experience, good client communications skills and also to complete my Professional Development Phase so I could start a surgery certificate. The team has been very supportive and helpful during my whole time in Middlesbrough and the experience I acquired there helped me feel more confident for the surgical internship I started afterwards.’

This is a wonderful opportunity for a vet to join a knowledgeable, supportive, friendly, and committed team no matter what stage of their career they are at.

Locally owned practices with a world of support

At Vets for Pets we’re a network of practices that are owned and managed by the practice owners that run them. Because they’re locally owned, each practice has the freedom to serve patients and clients the way it thinks is best.

But crucially, being locally-owned also means enjoying a truly team-spirited atmosphere. We want all our colleagues to build lasting relationships with practice owners and team members as well as patients and clients.

And because we’re also part of a wider group, you’ll get all the support you need when you need it. That means state-of-the-art facilities, high quality CPD, financial stability and a real sense of job security.

With our framework, we’ve made it simpler and easier for you to help patients and clients live happier, healthier lives together. It’s about making the most of your expertise and bringing this to life in practise while being safe in the knowledge that you’re looked after too. Simply put, we offer locally owned practices with a world of support.

Flexibility & Wellbeing
You tell us which hours you want to work, and we’ll do everything we can to make it happen. With us, you could enjoy a better work-life balance where flexibility and wellbeing come first.

Training & Development
We offer great training programmes, plus fully funded CPD, leadership courses and access to our group’s learning curriculum. We’ll also support you if you’re interested in owning a practice. With our wealth of resources, it’s easy to build your skills and develop your career.

Local Practices
With us, no two practices are the same. We’re deeply rooted in our local communities and we want you to really get to know your patients and clients locally.

Being part of the Pets At Home Group
Being part of Vets for Pets means you’ll be part of our network of locally owned practices. Our practices are located across the country and are owned and run by our Joint Venture Partners (JVPs). Our Joint Venture Partnership model is unique and gives everyone the best of both worlds. Working within one of our practices you’ll get to work with the JVP who has the clinical freedom and autonomy to do things their own way.

As we’re part of a large respected organisation you’ll also enjoy the benefits of being part of a wider PLC Group. This means we can give you greater stability and job security during these uncertain times and beyond.

What’s more, we’ve worked hard to make sure everyone in our group can take part in a fun, friendly, professional and inclusive culture that allows you to bring your whole self to work and be at your very best.
