Job Details

  • RCVS Accredited, standalone small animal practice based in Airdrie, Scotland
  • Full-time veterinary surgeon with at least 1 years’ experience, with a bias towards surgery (though not essential)
  • £35,000 to £65,000 plus, depending on experience, no OHH

Our established small animal practice has a fantastic opportunity for a forward thinking and ambitious veterinary surgeon to join our friendly and professional team. Our focus is on looking after you so you can concentrate on doing what you do best, looking after clients and their pets!

About Us

Our practice has flourished since opening in 2012, making us the go to practice in the local area, with a large and loyal client base. We have been RCVS PSS accredited at General Practice level since opening and do all the things you would expect a busy small animal practice to do. You will be joining a welcoming, enthusiastic, forward-thinking team of 3 vets, 4 RVN’s and 5 client care advisors, all of whom contribute to clinical protocols and practice procedures during monthly clinical and practice meetings.  We take pride in our culture built on communication, support and mutual respect and in delivering a consistently high standard of clinical care.

What I love best about working with Vets4Pets is the fantastic team in Airdrie, making even the worst days enjoyable!

Lucy McLeod, Vet Surgeon

“I love that I feel excited to come to work every day because I know no matter what the day holds, the team will always pull together to get through it while maintaining the highest standards of patient care!”

Location

We are based in Airdrie, a small suburban town, located in the central belt of Scotland with excellent transport links to both Edinburgh and Glasgow. In addition, the beautiful southern Highlands are just a short drive north of the town providing endless opportunities to engage in cultural, historic and outdoor pursuits.

The Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for a vet to develop and progress any clinical interest they may have.  Although a bias towards surgery is preferable, as an established practice we do see a variety of cases and our wonderful team are here to provide all the support you need to develop your own interests. The position can be full or part time to fit around your commitments with no OOH required.

We offer 20 minutes for non-routine consults, ‘catch-up time’ after appointments, twice daily well-being breaks and protected admin time giving you the chance to work up cases effectively and take care of yourself. In addition to this: -

  • £35,000 to £65,000 plus, depending on experience
  • Visa sponsorship for international candidates
  • Relocation package considered if required
  • Professional subscriptions & memberships
  • Contributory workplace pension
  • Generous CPD allowance & support, with regular in-house training
  • Exclusive company discounts plus 20% off Vets4Pets, Pets at Home and the Groom Room
  • 5.6 weeks holiday PLUS your birthday off (including presents from the team!)
  • Fully funded annual Christmas party and bonus
  • Monthly Tea & Cake break when we close the door to clients for an hour!

If you’re looking for a friendly, supportive, and professional environment in which you can thrive and a team who will always be there for you then this is the role for you! Locally owned practices with a world of support

At Vets for Pets we’re a network of practices that are owned and managed by the practice owners that run them. Because they’re locally owned, each practice has the freedom to serve patients and clients the way it thinks is best.

But crucially, being locally-owned also means enjoying a truly team-spirited atmosphere. We want all our colleagues to build lasting relationships with practice owners and team members as well as patients and clients.

And because we’re also part of a wider group, you’ll get all the support you need when you need it. That means state-of-the-art facilities, high quality CPD, financial stability and a real sense of job security.

With our framework, we’ve made it simpler and easier for you to help patients and clients live happier, healthier lives together. It’s about making the most of your expertise and bringing this to life in practise while being safe in the knowledge that you’re looked after too. Simply put, we offer locally owned practices with a world of support.

Flexibility & Wellbeing
You tell us which hours you want to work, and we’ll do everything we can to make it happen. With us, you could enjoy a better work-life balance where flexibility and wellbeing come first.

Training & Development
We offer great training programmes, plus fully funded CPD, leadership courses and access to our group’s learning curriculum. We’ll also support you if you’re interested in owning a practice. With our wealth of resources, it’s easy to build your skills and develop your career.

Local Practices
With us, no two practices are the same. We’re deeply rooted in our local communities and we want you to really get to know your patients and clients locally.

Being part of the Pets At Home Group
Being part of Vets for Pets means you’ll be part of our network of locally owned practices. Our practices are located across the country and are owned and run by our Joint Venture Partners (JVPs). Our Joint Venture Partnership model is unique and gives everyone the best of both worlds. Working within one of our practices you’ll get to work with the JVP who has the clinical freedom and autonomy to do things their own way.

As we’re part of a large respected organisation you’ll also enjoy the benefits of being part of a wider PLC Group. This means we can give you greater stability and job security during these uncertain times and beyond.

What’s more, we’ve worked hard to make sure everyone in our group can take part in a fun, friendly, professional and inclusive culture that allows you to bring your whole self to work and be at your very best.
