Practice Manager

The Role

Abbey Vet Centre have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual to join their team as a Practice Manager. The successful candidate will support the Clinical Director in the management of the practice and the development of the business, promoting improvements and being an active member of the Management Team. You will also lead and develop the members of the reception team to ensure excellent teamwork and the delivery of a high standard of customer care.

The shift pattern covers 5 days per week between 9 am – 5:30 pm, with occasional work outside of these hours. We offer a competitive salary for this role is up to £38,000 depending on experience.

Abbey Vets are a small animal practice with two branches in Durham and Chester le Street. We're striving to be a high-end practice, that provides gold standard patient and client care and a good work-life balance for staff. We strive towards quality over quantity and continuously look to develop our services further, Our latest project is looking at what we can do with our large empty garage, so far a physiotherapy suite is our favourite!

About the Team and Culture

Our management team exists of a Clinical Director, Practice Manager, Service support manager, Head nurse and Deputy Head Nurse. We have 10 veterinary surgeons, and 12 nurses (9 qualified). We have a fabulous reception team and a great support team (insurance, debt recovery, finance). We have an internal medicine certificate holder and two vets working towards their certificate (imaging and surgery). We are keen to offer staff the opportunity to develop further, CPD and certificates are encouraged.

Applicant Requirements 

Experience in a managerial role preferred, must be a good people person and able to communicate effectively with a range of colleagues. The ability to prioritise and problem solve is essential. Some experience in the veterinary (or health care) industry would be an advantage but not essential.
