Enough about us, what about the job?

All our branches are fully equipped to a very high standard and new toy requests are rarely refused. We are committed to providing exceptional care for our patients and clients and our dedicated night nurse team provide inpatient care for our hospitalised patients. Work-life balance is a priority so our civilised 1:15 on call rota comes with additional time off for weekend work and all OOH call are triaged by our qualified night staff. An hour’s lunch break is the norm not a rarity, as is finishing on time.

We are looking for a team player who wants to enjoy all aspects of medicine, surgery, and emergency work in a high quality, first - opinion setting. Advice and support are available from our in-house certificate holders and visiting specialists who are always on hand with advice. We also offer opportunities to develop your own passion. Regular Clinical Club meetings (with chippy tea!) and SA vet meetings offer chance for us to meet and share our experience and knowledge with the team.

Our current full-time vets work a 4 day week with Saturday morning work and a share of 1:15 on call rota. We are more than happy to chat about flexible working hours for childcare and other commitments. We are offering a salary starting at £34,000 - £60,000 with 5 weeks paid holiday plus bank holidays plus additional days off after working full weekend. The weekend rota is produced every December for the year ahead and your day off is fixed every week, so you can plan and swap any shifts that you might need to.

We are situated south of Lancaster, on the edge of the Trough of Bowland and are only 30 minutes from the Lake District and one hour from both Manchester and Liverpool so there is plenty to explore and do whether you prefer the peace of the Lakes or the bustle of the city.

We are always looking for ways to become more sustainable and have just set up our ‘green team’ for investors in the environment, who are busy planting trees at the practices and making sure we recycle everything we can. The hospital and one branch already have solar panels installed and our uniforms are made from plastic bottles!

One thing you don’t ever have to worry about at Lanes is our sociable side...we are forever getting together and notoriously throw the best Christmas parties ever. If last years ‘Lanes Fest’ (where we all camped and had a festival in one of the directors gardens!) wasn’t enough, we are getting ready for this years ‘Lanes Olympics’ – egg and spoon race anyone?

We are always getting involved in the community and spend lots of time fundraising for charities such as Blue Sky Stroke Association and Sue Ryder. We have even begun a trip around the world…we set up a Strava running group with the aim of each of us running so many miles, which together add up to the distance around the world! On the 4^th August we will have a stationary bike set up in one of the practices so everyone can do 20 minutes each to help us finish our goal together!
