A work life less ordinary with Vets Now

Due to an ever increasing caseload, Vets Now Kilmarnock have a fantastic opportunity to add another Vet Surgeon to our amazing team on a full time, permanent basis. If you’re looking for a rewarding career in a fast-paced but friendly environment then Vets Now is the right move for you.

Be part of a phenomenal team

Working in our Kilmarnock clinic you will have a well-balanced career that will provide you with exposure to new and exciting cases working alongside our experienced team and benefiting from the support and mentorship of our District Vet. The wider network of emergency clinics and specialty hospitals also work in collaboration to ensure that we can offer the best Emergency and Critical Care in the country. Whether it’s sharing best practice or seeking advice on a particularly complex case, you will never be on your own at Vets Now.

Delivering clinical excellence

Our ethos is simple – to give people and their pets the care and support they deserve, at the time they need it most and our Vet Surgeons are vital to delivering this ethos.

At Vets Now we champion work life balance and understand how important this is for our people. Working a fair share of weeknights, weekend days/nights and bank holidays, you will work an average of 3 shifts per week for a full-time contract. Typically, our rota patterns incorporate an extended period of time off regularly so you can really maximise your down time. As with any role within Vets Now we appreciate that one size doesn’t fit all. Finding the right work/life balance for you is our priority, so we are happy to consider this role on part-time basis.

Get off on the right foot

We can also offer a place on AdvantEdge, our two-week programme for experienced Vets. AdvantEdge is aimed at Vets with at least two years UK small animal or mixed practice experience, and who want to top-up their emergency medical and surgical knowledge whilst learning new techniques. The lectures on AdvantEdge are delivered virtually by diplomats in ECC, Internal Medicine and Surgery as well as experienced ECC clinicians. The programme also features mentored shifts in clinic – an ideal opportunity to work alongside an experienced emergency clinician and put into practice everything you’ve picked up on the programme.

Company

Vets Now provides this trusted service to more than 1000 veterinary practices across the UK — from 55 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and three 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, we treat around 100,000 small animals every year — and during seasonal holidays, like Christmas and Easter, our highly-skilled staff answer around five queries an hour from worried pet owners. So whether you’re in Aberdeen, Belfast or Portsmouth we’re there for you and your pet when you need us most.

We’ve also pioneered other ways to help pets, pet owners and the veterinary profession, such as our comprehensive referrals service and providing our staff with industry-leading training and development opportunities. We also support the pet blood transfusion charity, Pet Blood Bank UK. Meanwhile, our three hospitals — in Glasgow, Manchester and Swindon — are home to some of the UK’s leading specialists in the field of emergency and critical care and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
