Veterinary Surgeon

The Role

We are looking for a Veterinary Surgeon to join our amazing team of 7 Veterinary Surgeons, 7 Veterinary Nurses, a Veterinary Care assistant, a practice manager and 4 receptionists.

We run our own out of hours service on site. Right now, every Vet has one night on call per week and one weekend every five. Vets have a half day off following the weeknight on call, working on a four-and-a-half-day rota per week. 
Vets will not need to stay on the premises while on out of hours shift. We have an on-call mobile phone where we receive calls from our clients. We assess first over the phone and we decided if we need to meet the client at the clinic, or the case can be safely seen the following day during normal hours. We always have a Veterinary Nurse on duty alongside and vets have the whole Friday off after doing a weekend on call. We never work longer than 8.5hours a day, including one hour of lunch.

We do have two separate wards, for canine and feline inpatients, plus an isolation ward. Our cat ward has been designed to the highest standard of feline medicine.

We have two theatres, a room for x-rays and ultrasound, a large preparation area for nonsterile procedures where we also get our patients prepared in view of their sterile procedures, a dental table with dental unit and dental x-ray for dental work and endoscopies, a dedicated room for end of life and a Laboratory area.

The salary will be up to £60,000 depending on experience.

About Us

We are all general practitioners, some of us already hold or are in the process of getting an International Certificate done, and every member of staff is encouraged and supported to increase their own skills and knowledge in everyone's main area of interest.

The practice is very close to the town centre. We love our big garden that surrounds the whole building. We benefit from a very large parking area and the reception has two separated waiting areas, one for dogs and one smaller for cats. We are a very successful training practice. It allows us to train staff to the high standard we aim.

We have two main consult rooms, with big bright windows facing the garden, and one ophthalmic room.
We also have a fully equipped staff room, with kitchen, sofa, and armchairs, and two officers both used by clinical and non-clinical staff.

Andover is a medium sized market town surrounded by beautiful countryside. It has great connection to airports, London, and other cities such as Southampton. Beaches are just one hour away by car.

We employ seven Veterinary Surgeons, seven Veterinary Nurses, one Veterinary Care assistant, a practice manager and four receptionists. We also have a University Student nurse working with us full time.
