Why Choose Our Practice?

Could this be the opportunity you are waiting for! We believe that feeling happy, valued, and respected at work is vitally important to help you achieve your potential. We care about our team, patients, and clients in that order because we understand that unless you are at your best, the patient care and client experience won’t be the best.
Using Vet led initiatives and building on the friendly and supportive foundation we already have, we are working hard to develop a strong culture of “civility”. We are looking for a candidate with strong interpersonal skills and a core mindset of kindness and respect.

The Role

Carmel Vets have an excellent opportunity for a dedicated RVN to join their team as a Clinical Lead Nurse! This is a fantastic position for a nurse who wants to develop and take their first steps into a management role! Responsibilities will include, managing and co-ordinating theatre, liaising with vets to prioritise procedures and ensuring the smooth running of the surgical caseload. Good knowledge of nurse clinics and consulting would be necessary to ensure that our consulting process is kept up to date. Other duties will include leading clinical audits, clinical coaching for student nurses, maintaining stock, equipment repair/maintenance, leading and developing nurse clinics, keeping up to date SOPs, and assisting with best practice within PSS guidelines to retain our accredited status.

You will be based at our Fallings Park site but may be required to work at our Penn Fields branch from time to time, to provide holiday and absence cover. The role is for approximately 37 hours per average week. Monday to Friday shifts are either 8 am to 3 pm, 9:30 am to 5:30 pm or 11 am to 7 pm, on a shared rota. Saturdays are 1:4, from 8.30am to 2.00pm. Some flexibility will be required to cover holidays and absences. No Sundays and No Bank Holidays. No on-call. No out of hours.

The salary for this role is up to £28,500 FTE depending on experience.

About Us

Carmel Veterinary Centre is an RCVS Tier 2 accredited, VNTP, two-site small animal practice based in Wolverhampton. Both practices are within walking distance of a local park, which is ideal if you bring your dog to work or just to get some fresh air and stretch your legs at lunchtime. Wolverhampton is ideally based to access both city life and the countryside. We are equipped with ultrasound, digital X-ray, endoscope, bronchoscope and full in house Idexx lab machines. We will be purchasing a dental X-ray machine this year and have lots of other plans and ideas for the future.

We are committed to providing the best possible service and will always try to go the extra mile to deliver exceptional client and patient care. We have recently recruited a fantastic Senior Vet to support our part-time CD and to help us increase the services we offer. They are joining our fantastic team of registered veterinary nurses, one student veterinary nurse, 2 Animal Care Assistants and a dedicated Clinical Cleaner. Our team are friendly and motivated, and we strongly encourage CPD and self-development. One of our nurses has just completed her ISFM Diploma in Feline Nursing and we are working towards our Fear Free Status. Three members of our team have trained as Mental Health First Aiders. It is important to us that we provide a positive and supportive working environment. We have a strong ethos of teamwork and communication.

Applicant Requirements

We are looking for a registered veterinary nurse who shares our team values, has a strong work ethic, and can consistently provide excellent patient and client care. At least two years post qualification experience would be preferable and a Clinical Coach Qualification or eagerness to train towards this would be advantageous.
You should be comfortable with supervising the nursing team, with the ability to share clinical knowledge to keep improving standards and developing the practice. You would liaise with the management team to ensure the smooth running of the practice and an exceptional client/patient experience. You must be extremely well organised and have lots of enthusiasm and energy to lead, motivate and encourage the nursing team. A calm, friendly, approachable, positive demeanour with a can-do attitude is vital.
