Job Details

About us:
We’re a proudly independent, small animal practice based in Gloucestershire, looking to expand our friendly team. We operate across two sites with excellent facilities to ensure quality care for the animals we treat.

Many of our vet and nursing staff have been with us for decades, testament to the warm and welcoming working culture of our practice. Appointment diaries are carefully managed to prioritise our team’s health and wellbeing.

As a nurse training practice, we have a large number of highly experienced qualified nurses. They are a huge asset to the practice, providing incredible support to our clients and vets.  We believe in providing care to all our pets who are in need and support several local charities including Street Vet, Starfish Dog Rescue and are the PDSA practice for Gloucestershire.

Gloucester has lots to offer, from the recently regenerated docks with great bars and restaurants, to beautiful walks in the Cotswolds countryside - and of course a rugby obsession! The lovely spa town of Cheltenham is close by and Bristol is just a short drive down the M5.

What we’re looking for:

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and conscientious vet to join our team on a full time or part time basis. We welcome applications from new graduates and have a qualified vet GDP advisor to support their development, build confidence and provide opportunities to learn new skills.

We encourage independent working so if you join our team you will have autonomy when it comes to case management. But whilst case continuity is important to us, we have an open door approach and regularly discuss cases amongst the team. Vets operate and consult every day so less experienced members of the team can progress quickly with daily operating experience.

Employment terms:

Offering £33-60K per year dependent on experience.

25 days annual leave per year plus 8 bank holidays. We also offer two Christmas shopping days holiday in December.

We cover our own out of hours, supported at all times by a second on call director. Out of hours weekends are one in six.

We are happy to support a certificate.

We provide very generous staff pet discounts and a CPD allowance of £1,500 and up to five days per year. We also organise numerous lunch and learn events throughout the year.

VDS and RCVS funded

And most importantly, a plentiful supply of cake and biscuits. Our staff are excellent bakers!

Facilities:

Digital x-ray dental x-ray, flexible video gastroscope, flexible bronchoscope, rigid endoscopes, ECG, Doppler BP, tonopen, lactate meter, multimodal monitoring for GAs at both sites, Ultrasound

In-house - Idexx Procyte and biochem,  microbiological cultures and a courier service for any external samples 6 days per week.

Separate dog, cat and isolation facilities

If you would like to find out more please email or call us – we can invite you for a face to face chat or a video call if that’s easier to begin with.
