We are seeking a motivated veterinary nurse with high standards and a passion to deliver first class patient care, teaching and research.  This is a strongly client-facing role and one of its attractions is the ability to follow cases and develop client relationships.

The Opportunity:

The Dermatology Service offers a highly professional and prompt service to referring vets and clients, seeing any skin problems in any species.

Our team is led by specialist dermatologists with world class reputations in clinical work and research. There are also two junior clinicians in training roles. We treat all companion animals, exotic species, horses and farm animals.

We offer a full allergy testing and immunotherapy service, including subcutaneous, sublingual, intralymphatic and one-day induction protocols. Our facilities include video microscopes, video-otoscope for viewing and treating external and middle ear conditions, and CO2 and diode laser surgery for foot, skin and ear conditions.

We have pioneered new treatments for allergies and other skin diseases, including a laser surgery technique for pododermatitis. The nurse has an important role in developing the dermatology service, teaching and clinical research.

The Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies was founded in 1823 by William Dick

William Dick
William Dick was an outstanding practitioner who made great strides in establishing veterinary education in Scotland. Besides setting up the School in 1823, he was appointed Veterinary Surgeon in Scotland to Queen Victoria in 1844.

By the time of his death in 1866, the 818 students he had taught were to be found throughout the world. Among them were the founders of veterinary schools in Glasgow, Liverpool, Ireland, Canada, the USA and Australia.

Clyde Street Veterinary College
In the autumn of 1829 William Dick’s lectures were given in Clyde Street, probably in the old building at number 8. It was in Clyde Street that Dick first trained as a farrier at his father's forge.
