Job Details

Full or part-time small animal position
- Independent practice allowing clinical freedom
- Support from experienced vets
- Good proportion of surgical/medical work-up time
- Exotics caseload for those interested

We are currently looking for a small animal veterinary surgeon to join our independent, two-branch practice in the heart of Fife.

You have the opportunity to join our young and enthusiastic full time team where you will get complete clinical freedom, allowing you to work the way you want, and follow your cases all the way to the end. You will be backed by knowledgeable part time staff with a combined experience of over 100 years, including a medicine certificate holder.
Consulting is generally in 90-minute blocks with breaks in between allowing you a breather and time to catch up. Each vet has four full surgery mornings per week, ideal if you are surgically minded or enjoy the time for complicated medical work ups. If consulting is more your preference this can be accommodated. There is the option for studying towards a certificate if desired.

You will work a four-and-a-half-day week, including two 5/5.30 finishes, with a three-day weekend every four weeks. We provide our own OOH on a 1 in 4 basis and continue to do so as we strongly believe it is a win for everyone. You continue to have the opportunity to see those thrilling ECC cases, patients get continuity of care and clients are able to treat their animals affordably. We have an average call out rate of only 3-4 cases per vet per month, meaning even whilst on call you can still take that exercise class or go out for a meal, though skipping the wine is recommended!
Equipment includes digital radiography plus dental x-ray, Doppler ultrasonography, and a well-equipped in-house laboratory. You will work with a team of experienced RVNs and support staff, all of whom have been with us many years. It is a lovely, relaxed practice and you will be truly welcomed as one of the ‘KVC family’.

If your interest lies in exotics, we have a large amount of rabbit/ferret/guinea pig owners on our books many of whom are keen for allowing a good level of further investigation. One of our vets also treats reptiles and birds frequently so an interest in these species can be catered for.
A part time position would be considered, hours and OOH commitment flexible.

The Kingdom of Fife with its picturesque beaches and villages offers many outdoor pursuits such as hillwalking, water sports, cycling and of course golf. The area is popular with commuters, pairing affordable house prices with easy access to city life. The practice is less than an hour from Edinburgh, Dundee, Perth, and St Andrews.

Company

Kingdom Veterinary Clinic is a long established practice with our main clinic based in Glenrothes town centre.

We also have a branch clinic in Lochgelly, providing care for the animals of the surrounding community.

In addition to cats, dogs and rabbits we also look after many other small mammals including ferrets, guinea pigs, hamsters, rats, mice, gerbils and chinchillas. We also provide a range of treatments for birds and exotic pets such as reptiles and amphibians.

Kingdom Veterinary Clinic is voluntarily regularly inspected by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons to ensure the highest standards of care.

Whilst we are the largest practice in Glenrothes, we pride ourselves on providing a professional yet friendly environment and care for our clients as much as their pets!

Our Glenrothes clinic is open evenings and weekends for those who work long hours. We are easily accessible in the town centre and have our own large car park. As of September 2016, we continue to provide our own 24 hour emergency service staffed by our own staff from our own purpose built building. This means that we will have full access to your pets’ medical history and your pet will be in familiar surroundings with a familiar face!
