The Role

Manor Vets are looking for a Veterinary Surgeon to join their team as part of their well-established night service. The successful candidate will work alongside our longstanding team of Registered Veterinary Nurse and a Veterinary Auxiliary, providing out of hours cover for our other Manor Vets branches and a small charity.

We care about our team’s well-being and have changed our rota to allow for a better work/life balance. This has created a night role vacancy in the team, with a shift pattern of 7 nights Monday-Sunday, followed by 14 nights off. There is also the opportunity to pick up some day shifts on your days off if you wish.

The salary for this role is up to £60,000 FTE depending on experience.

About Us

Here at Manor Vets, we are dedicated to providing a high level of patient care, to help us deliver this we have state of the art facilities which include CT, Video Endoscopy, Ultrasound and much more. Our practice is located close to Birmingham town centre but only a short drive to the countryside meaning you can have the best of both worlds!


Our Night team consists of 3 vets, 3 nurses and 2 Auxiliaries who work on rotation. Although the successful candidate will be working in sole charge, we do have excellent working relations with other local out of hours services so other vets who are awake are always available for advice if needed. Across our wider team, we have 25 vets which include a diploma holder and multiple certificate holders in a variety of areas. We have a team of 23 nurses as well as Veterinary Auxiliaries, Receptionists and Admin staff. Although we have a large team our staff all work closely together and offer a very supportive and enjoyable environment to work in.

Applicant Requirements

No previous Night experience required. Our ideal candidate will be a dedicated vet who is looking for something new, you will be competent in dealing with ECC cases and put animal care at the heart of everything you do. We are passionate about developing our staff and are more than happy to provide support and training for someone willing to learn.

All our surgeries are air conditioned, and we regularly invest in the very best modern veterinary diagnostic instruments, x-ray, laboratory, anaesthetic and surgical equipment. This means your pet will receive the best possible care and treatment.

There are seventeen full time and three part time veterinary surgeons across our four sites. They share their vast knowledge of the latest treatments through frequent meetings. We also have consulting veterinary nurses at all sites. And from February 2012 we are open 24 hours at our Halesowen site. Our own vets and nurses work through the night looking after our hospital patients as well as dealing with urgent cases and surgical emergencies that might arise.
