Veterinary Surgeon - Full or Part Time - Derby Kingsway Companion Care Job Description

"It has been an absolute pleasure working at Companion Care Derby Kingsway. As a newly graduated vet when I started working over a year ago, I have felt incredibly supported by every member of the team every step of the way. The guidance I was able to receive in the early stages by Emma and Lucy and the appreciation shown for my work has had a massive impact in the confidence with which I face cases daily. The working environment is amazing and it truly has made a difference knowing that I would be able to share some laughs in the workplace every day as well as feeling cared for on a personal level. I could not speak more highly of Emma or the team."

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a veterinary surgeon to join our fun and friendly team at Derby Kingsway! This successful small animal practice is close to the A38 with good transport links to Nottingham, Burton and the Peak District. We’re seeking an enthusiastic, newly qualified or experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly team on a full time basis.

Our modern surgery has been designed to industry leading standards, with state of the art equipment and in-house laboratory facilities. We are a Rabbit Friendly Practice and a silver standard ICC Cat Friendly Clinic, working regularly with Cats Protection.

Our Partner, Emma Gilbert, is a 1999 Bristol graduate and leads a supportive team of 2 other vets, 5 nurses, and 3 client care advisors.

The ideal candidate to join our professional team will have good general small animal surgical and medical skills as well as a good knowledge of working up cases. This rewarding position includes shared weekend rota of 1 in 3 weekends, 4 day week and occasional sole charge but no OOH. You will be part of a team dedicated to providing superb standards of client and animal care.

We are able to consider candidates looking for full time hours (40 hours per week) or a job share between two part time Vets. Particularly suitable for a new graduate.

As you would expect from the market leader in small animal veterinary care, we offer:

•    Excellent career opportunities and development due to our varied case load
•    Competitive salary commensurate with experience – from £32K
•    Contributory pension scheme
•    Generous CPD and funding of certificates for the right candidate
•    Paid memberships (RCVS, VDS)
•    Exclusive company discounts and rewards

If you share our passion for delivering outstanding pet healthcare and great customer service and would like to join our team, we would love to hear from you.

We are an equal opportunities employer

Locally owned practices with a world of support

At Vets4Pets we’re a network of practices that are owned and managed by the practice owners that run them. Because they’re locally owned, each practice has the freedom to serve patients and clients the way it thinks is best.

But crucially, being locally-owned also means enjoying a truly team-spirited atmosphere. We want all our colleagues to build lasting relationships with practice owners and team members as well as patients and clients.

And because we’re also part of a wider group, you’ll get all the support you need when you need it. That means state-of-the-art facilities, high quality CPD, financial stability and a real sense of job security.

With our framework, we’ve made it simpler and easier for you to help patients and clients live happier, healthier lives together. It’s about making the most of your expertise and bringing this to life in practise while being safe in the knowledge that you’re looked after too. Simply put, we offer locally owned practices with a world of support.

Flexibility & Wellbeing
You tell us which hours you want to work, and we’ll do everything we can to make it happen. With us, you could enjoy a better work-life balance where flexibility and wellbeing come first.

Training & Development
We offer great training programmes, plus fully funded CPD, leadership courses and access to our group’s learning curriculum. We’ll also support you if you’re interested in owning a practice. With our wealth of resources, it’s easy to build your skills and develop your career.

Local Practices
With us, no two practices are the same. We’re deeply rooted in our local communities and we want you to really get to know your patients and clients locally.

Being part of the Pets At Home Group
Being part of Vets4Pets means you’ll be part of our network of locally owned practices. Our practices are located across the country and are owned and run by our Joint Venture Partners (JVPs). Our Joint Venture Partnership model is unique and gives everyone the best of both worlds. Working within one of our practices you’ll get to work with the JVP who has the clinical freedom and autonomy to do things their own way.

As we’re part of a large respected organisation you’ll also enjoy the benefits of being part of a wider PLC Group. This means we can give you greater stability and job security during these uncertain times and beyond.

What’s more, we’ve worked hard to make sure everyone in our group can take part in a fun, friendly, professional and inclusive culture that allows you to bring your whole self to work and be at your very best.
