Job Details

All of us, on-site and off-site, are equal parts of a flexible team. The reception team, RVNs and vets all share responsibilities and help each other. A primary responsibility we have is to ensure that we and our colleagues look forward to seeing each other each day. Our team of vets include our head Veterinarian, Grant Petrie who sees internal medicine and cardiology referral patients and our general practice vets, some with additional qualifications including internal medicine certificates and a masters in animal behaviour.

The Practice

The London Vet Clinic is an independent, long established clinic in the heart of London. We think of our patients first, not our wallets. Some of us have been with the clinic for over 20, 30, 40 and 50 years respectively. Others have joined us more recently. All of us enjoy the range of interests, skills and experiences our colleagues bring to the clinic each day.

The Role

Main responsibilities:

As a General Practice Vet, you and your veterinary colleagues Grant Petrie, Bruce Fogle, Jo Jerjis, Stephen Warren, Helen Ward and Natalia Bewick support the clinic in its daily consults, diagnostics, procedure and clinical behaviour advice. Your role includes but is not limited to these activities:

  • Ensure that our respected level of veterinary medicine and surgery is maintained and when possible improved
  • Working with your colleagues, carry out the requests of the Veterinary Clinic Director and Clinic Manager
  • Participate in in-house training and ensure the clinic skills and facilities are always pet and pet-owner friendly
  • Assist with any visiting vet students and new staff
  • Attend the regular clinic meetings
  • Make suggestions for improving what we do and participate in CPD

Responsibilities shared with the other GP vets:

  • General consultations
  • General surgery including dentistry
  • General diagnostics including x-ray, ultrasound, and endoscopy
  • General in-house lab work
  • Work with the Lead Veterinarian, Grant Petrie, to develop new skills especially new surgical skills

Company

In the heart of London, we provide primary and specialist care for companion animals and their people. We opened forty two years ago near Portman Square as the Portman Veterinary Clinic, to care for pets in Marylebone, Mayfair and Lisson Grove. Thirty years ago we moved to our present premises on York Street. Today most people and pets who visit us come from St John’s Wood, Hampstead, Highgate, Camden, Kensington, Chelsea and Hammersmith. To reflect that change, in 2011 the clinic name was changed to the London Veterinary Clinic.
