The role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Veterinary Surgeon to join our team at Glenburn Veterinary Surgeons. In the past year, we have taken significant steps to improve the quality of our vet’s lives by becoming a small animal only practice and using the services of VetsNow to provide our OOH cover.  We have vets working part time roles, three working four-day weeks and others with finishing times suited more to their family lives.

This is a fabulous opportunity for someone wishing to develop their career, working alongside an experienced, supportive, and enthusiastic team.  It is the perfect position for those wishing to simply broaden their small animal knowledge or expand further and pursue a certificate which would be funded by the practice. We are delighted to already have one certificate holder in Surgery and a second currently studying for their Internal Medicine qualification, both eager to mentor those looking to enhance their skills in these areas.

Salary and Rota

Salary of up to £55,000 depending on experience, plus up to £5000 relocation allowance and up to £3000 welcome bonus

We are more than happy to discuss flexibility with the role however our full time, standard shift pattern involves working a 5-day week with 1 in 5 nights on call during the week until 10pm, plus 1 in 6 weekends (9-6pm Sat, 9-1pm Sunday). There is a ½ day on 4/6 weeks and the Thursday off prior to your weekend on. VetsNow provide our OOH from 10pm on weekdays and close of business on weekends.

About Us

We are a 3-branch practice with sites in Crumlin, Glengormley and Lisburn close to the North Antrim Coast and all it has to offer, including attractions such as the Giants Causeway, the Titanic Museum and multiple locations where the series Game of Thrones was filmed. 

We have a great team of staff across our 3 sites consisting of 7 Vet Surgeons, 4 RVN’s, 2 Student nurses and 10 support team members who are all friendly, welcoming, and eager to support and encourage any new members who join the team.

As a forward thinking practice, we continually strive to keep up to date with methods and equipment, the purchase of a new IMV GE Versana ultrasound and cardiac scanning table this year has allowed us to expand our scanning abilities vastly and further investment into our orthopaedic kit continually improves the service we provide including both CCWOs and MMPs.  As is standard, we also have x-ray, dental, endoscope, In House lab equipment and suction kits across the three sites.

Applicant Requirements

We are looking for an enthusiastic, caring veterinary surgeon with excellent communication skills. We will consider all levels of experience for this role, from recent graduates to certificate holders or those wishing to return to work after a recent break.
