Job Details

Are you looking for your next RVN position in a practice that offers flexibility and support? Where we value your work-life balance and have designed a fantastic rota to reflect this. Then Cedar Vets may just be the practice for you!

We are a thriving multi-centre practice and have been established in the community for a very long time. We are currently home to our beautiful purpose-built hospital in Alresford, which also plays host to Vets Now, meaning we have great continuity of patient care in-house.

The role will be predominantly based at our Alresford surgery where you will join a fantastic team of 4 vets, 5 RVNs plus an SVN, an ANA and our brilliant reception team who are so organized and are instrumental in helping to plan the day.

Cedar Alresford Reception

We are extremely forward-thinking and have made sure that we structure our days to focus on a great work-life balance. We are really proud to offer flexible working schedules to our staff as we believe strongly in work-life balance, so whatever your requirements are, we would love to hear from you! The shifts at Alresford are from 8am to 5pm or 10am to 7pm. We are always trying to improve our rotas and will continue to offer a protected 1hr lunch break, no Sundays, Bank Holidays, or night shifts. Our RVN’s currently work 1:5 Saturdays, where you will finish at 1pm.

We have a varied caseload so if you are wanting to study further and take on a certificate, this will be fully supported and funded. We have great career pathways and if there is something you want to study, just ask! Nothing will be turned down if it benefits you and the practice - we are very much pro personal development and we will always support you in your areas of interest. We are very well equipped with digital radiography, dental x-ray, ultrasound, video endoscopy and a laparoscopic unit, and our theatres have great monitoring kit including capnography.

Like many practices, there are quieter days and some very busy ones, but you can be sure on the busy days someone will always appear with pizza and donuts! There is such a lovely positive atmosphere here and we always have each other’s backs.

Our RVNs are invaluable to us and we make sure you feel that way during the working day too. Whether you are on designated nurse clinics, organising the ops schedule or helping out with our bereavement service, we want you to have the clinical freedom to really do your job how RVNs are supposed to - we allow our nurses to be nurses! There is so much mutual respect between the vets and nursing team so please know your opinions are always asked for and valued here. We are on an even playing field and don’t believe in hierarchy status. The majority of our management team are clinical and really embedded with us on the ground so they are always there to listen and take everything on board.

We are based in beautiful rural Hampshire on the edge of the South Downs, within shouting distance of the South Coast and only 90 minutes away from Central London by train.

Despite being split across different sites, we make a real effort to get together on a regular basis, as well as our annual summer party, Christmas party and pint nights!
