The University of Central Lancashire is working with local partners to develop a modern, innovative veterinary programme, focussed on producing clinically competent, compassionate, and pragmatic graduates. The School of Veterinary Medicine believes that everyone, regardless of background, has an opportunity to turn their aspirations of a career in animal care into a reality. We are seeking to appoint an applicant to lead in the development and maintenance of the Coaching & Mentoring Program that will support and grow the students of the Veterinary Medicine Course throughout their 5 years of study.

You will take a leading role in the creation of the Coaching & Mentoring program ensuring that its goals are aligned to the delivery of the curriculum and is able to evolve over time to meet the need of the mentees. The Coaching & Mentoring program will exist to support students to adapt to a new way of learning, making then competent in pursuing their own learning opportunities, whilst also making them confident to seek support from peers, mentors, & tutors alike.

You will help to recruit a team of Veterinary Mentors, supporting them in the development of their personal coaching & mentoring skills; as well as providing essential coaching support for veterinary students and new members of the veterinary school staff to ensure that existing expertise and experience is transformed into teaching excellence in a vet school environment.

As a self-motivated and pro-active individual, you will have an excellent track record in coaching and mentoring, as well as experience in design and implementation of coaching and mentoring schemes. Holding a ILM Level 5 Coaching and Mentoring qualification (or equivalent), you will be enthusiastic, collaborative, adaptable and flexible, and willing to step in and help where and when required in a fast moving and changing environment as the vet school develops.
