Are you a small animal Vet Surgeon with an Exotics interest? Are you looking for a role that you can advance your skills alongside a growing exotics caseload? If so, we may have the perfect role for you…

About us

Broadway Vets have been established for over 40 years offering high standards of primary care to small animals across Merseyside, with sites in Heswall, Higher Bebington & Wallasey. We are a progressive, growing and highly successful practice and are entering an exciting new chapter in our practice’s history.

We have lots of exciting plans in motion for 2022, including investment in our main site, equipment, team, and services. As part of these plans, we are looking to welcome an experienced first opinion vet with an exotics interest, exotics certificate or working towards an exotics certificate. You will work with Charlie, our new graduate associate, to build/develop our exotic client base and services. There is the caseload locally and a growing demand across the Wirral for such services, and alongside our small animal patients, we currently look after Rabbits, Guinea pigs, Parrots, tortoises, Bearded Dragons, Gekos and more.

Currently all three of our sites are well equipped with dental suites, operating theatres, and ultrasound machines. We also have endoscopy in our Bebington branch and radiography suites and dental x-ray in our Bebington and Heswall branches. We have in-house labs; haematology, biochemistry & microscopy. We are keen to consider investing in equipment to support a growing exotics caseload/service and may even be able to offer exclusive exotics only consult times at our branch sites, on set days.

You would be well supported by a fantastic team here at Broadway Vets. We are a really friendly, passionate team who often share knowledge and discuss clinical cases. Our 5 Veterinary Surgeon team are supported by brilliant Nursing and Client Care teams. We have a mix of service lengths within the team from welcoming more recent joiners to over 30 years’ service! We truly value every member of our team.

Your role and responsibilities

We are looking to welcome a Vet Surgeon who is initially happy with a 90% small animal, 10% exotics caseload split but with the passion and drive to help grow our exotics service, reducing their small animal caseload over time. You will enjoy consulting and be confident at sole charge work. If you are looking for your next move why not have a friendly informal chat with us?

  • Full or Part Time applications welcomed. (4 day working week considered)
  • No OOH’s

We are keen to support certificates where we can and there are leadership and mentorship roles available within Broadway.

We are very lucky with our location, being based in the beautiful Wirral, all within 10 miles of the hustle and bustle of Liverpool city centre and just a short commute to Chester! If you prefer the sea air, we are very close to some wonderful seaside towns such as New Brighton, West Kirby, and Hoylake. Liverpool and Manchester airports are easily accessible too by great road and train links.

Benefits Package:

  • 5 weeks holiday per year + birthday leave day
  • £1,500 welcome bonus
  • Salary up to £65,000 dependant on experience

Part of an amazing global family

The future of the veterinary world is at the heart of everything we do. We are all individual but two important things bring us together: a commitment to excellence and our passion to make A BETTER WORLD FOR PETS.

Linnaeus is owned by Mars, that makes us part of their 70,000 veterinary health Associates who spend their days thinking about the 400 million pets of the world and how to improve their lives. Being part of this amazing global group gives us the benefit of a huge network of experts and specialists, a future we can invest in and the security that allows us to concentrate on what we do best – caring for pets.

Our Associates are fundamental to our success, and we are proud to count some of the finest specialists, veterinary surgeons, and nurses in the UK among our team. Being part of the Mars family of businesses provides huge development opportunities across the group for our Associates.

Broadway Veterinary Surgery was established over thirty years ago. We are an independent small animal practice based on the Wirral.

In the early days Broadway was a one-vet single-site practice operating from what is now our Bebington branch. Mr Maloney took over the practice in 1997 and the practice continued to grow steadily, opening additional branches in Wallasey in 2004 and Heswall in 2012. Nowadays the practice employs eight vets, with varying special interests from orthopaedics to soft tissue surgery and medicine.

In 2002 Broadway became a veterinary nurse training practice affiliated with Myerscough College in Preston. Student nurses work in the practice for a time before starting the two year specialist course, and many of them stay with us after they qualify. All three of our branch head nurses trained with us and have continued to develop their careers within the practice.

Our dedicated team works together to provide high quality and individual care to all of our clients and their pets. We offer a full array of modern diagnostic facilities including laboratory tests, x-rays, ultrasound, endoscopy, orthopaedic surgery, ECGs and blood pressure monitoring. We have hospitalisation facilities in the event that an animal needs to stay overnight.

All of our branches are open 8.30AM-6.30PM seven days a week for routine appointments and operations. In the event that your pet needs treatment outside of normal surgery hours, we provide a local emergency service for our registered clients.

Overall, Broadway Veterinary Surgery is a modern and progressive practice, and we strive to offer a high quality individual approach. We are proud to be an independent family owned practice.
