Job Details

Riversmeet Veterinary Centre was established over 100 years ago and is a small animal, primary care practice in Staffordshire & Warwickshire, with sites in Tamworth and Atherstone.
As a practice we are really proud of our closely knit, supportive team. The majority of whom have 5 – 20 years’ service! We are all motivated individuals who are passionate about high standards and the pets in our care. We are a 9 Veterinary Surgeon team with a certificate holder in Ophthalmology. Investing in our associates and professional development is important to us and is actively encouraged here at Riversmeet Vets. Three Vet Surgeons within the team are also working towards certificates including in Surgery and ECC.

We see a varied caseload of routine and more advanced primary care services including orthopedic surgery, Laparoscopic spay and Laparoscopic biopsy, soft tissue surgery, eye, heart and skin treatments, arthritis management and cancer treatment. We also offer referral services in ophthalmology. Our two practices are light and spacious and have a great range of equipment available including; Digital x-ray, ultrasound at both sites, large and small endoscope, electrocautery, cryotherapy, ophthalmic loops, dental equipment, orthopedic air powered tools, slit lamp, tono pens & more.

We predominantly care for cats and dogs across the Staffordshire area, but we occasionally see small furries and even the odd chicken! (No two days are the same here at Riversmeet Veterinary Centre)

As a Veterinary Surgeon at Riversmeet Veterinary Centre you would be joining our 8-week rolling rota.

  • 4 days per week with a set day off.
  • Two Saturday mornings. 9am – 12:30.
  • 1 in 8 full weekends (Sat & Sunday) with the Monday off the following week, resulting in a 3-day week.
  • We welcome both full and part time applications.

Your day-to-day role at Riversmeet Veterinary Centre would include a mixture of routine, advanced and ECC cases. Depending on your area of interest you would likely see at least 1 day of surgery per week. We often have regular Vet meetings, and you will have the chance for support or to share clinical knowledge/ discuss cases. Case continuity is important to us, where possible and we pride ourselves on building a great rapport with our clients.

Both our sites are based in lovely market towns just 15 minutes’ drive from the city of Birmingham. We have easy access to the city or the more peaceful countryside surroundings. Birmingham airport is also just a 30-minute drive away. If you are considering relocating, please do speak to us about our relocation package.

The ideal candidate for this role would be a surgeon who feels comfortable with all first opinion duties and enjoys being an all-round GP Vet. We may be able to support a surgeon with more advanced procedures if you feel comfortable with all routine first opinion duties.

We are part of Linnaeus, which is a vibrant community of veterinary practices across the UK and Ireland. Linnaeus works across a range of areas within veterinary medicine from small animal to farm and equine. All our practices are individual but two important things bring us together; a commitment to excellence in everything we do and our passion to make A BETTER WORLD FOR PETS.

We demonstrate excellence in everything we do for the associate, client and pet and our mission is to be recognised as the leading veterinary provider for all pets and animals across the UK. We do this by investing in our people and infrastructure to deliver the best in care for our clients and their pets.
