About us

Calder Vets Brighouse is one of our eleven Calder surgeries. It is one of our larger clinics with separate cat/dog waiting areas (we are proudly Cat Friendly), two air-conditioned consultation rooms, preps area, dental equipment including X-ray, imaging room with X-ray and ultrasound and theatre. We offer a full range of primary care services, such as consultations, preventative healthcare, routine and non-routine surgery, dentistry and imaging (x-ray and ultrasound). We also have a lovely staff break room upstairs with comfy sofas to enjoy your down time.

We are a small and friendly team of two vets (Amanda and Joel), two RVNs (Lauren and Kym), one PCA (Eleanor) and three receptionists (Zoe, Vicky and Amelia) and we have a loyal client base. Due to growth, we need an additional vet in our team. This is a fantastic role for an either experienced Vet Surgeon looking to take some first steps into leadership and management, or for perhaps a more recent graduate looking for a rewarding position that can offer great rapport with clients, case continuity and the chance to work more independently but still be well supported by experienced colleagues.

We are lucky to be supported by our Tier 3 Hospital in Dewsbury where you can refer cases in house for soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery, ophthalmology, cardiology and imaging (ultrasound, endoscopy, CT, MRI), as well as for rehabilitation services (physio, hydro, laser) through our own physiotherapist led Rehabilitation Centre.  Dewsbury also offers 24-hour on-site emergency care through our dedicated ECC night team, so you always know your patients are well looked after out of hours.

Shifts: 2x 8am-8pm, 1x 8am-6pm, 1x 8am-1pm; 1 in 4 weekends (8am-6pm)

Your role and responsibilities

As a Senior Vet Surgeon, the role would include building strong relationships with the team and clients and performing high-quality medicine and surgery, working closely with the Senior Leadership Team to help drive the clinic forward in terms of team engagement, clinical quality and financial performance.  You would be responsible for the line management of the two other vets in the team, ensuring we are delivering a quality service and more.
