The Role

Working across three practices within Inverness, you will join the rest of the team working in rotation providing nurse consultations and peri-operative nursing. The consultations include the standard paediatric weigh & worming, post-operative checks, microchipping etc. In addition to the usual appointments, our nurses have the freedom to create and deliver targeted appointments such as: weight management, geriatric cat consults (silver whiskers), behavioural and desensitisation and many more. Whatever your passion is, we will encourage you.

We have four surgical theatres, and you will be involved in a wide variety of surgeries. We are always looking to develop our nurses in areas of their interest and are happy to support you through courses to enhance your skills. For working out of hours you will be compensated with long weekends.

On call weekends every other month means you get plenty of weekends off, offering a good work life balance. Shift swaps are accommodated to ensure you don't miss out on personal commitments. In addition to this we are currently building a team of VCAs to ensure you are dedicating your time to nursing. We offer an enhanced holiday of 29 days per annum. In addition, your birthday off too.

Rota and Salary

Salary for the role is up to £27,000 depending on experience.

5 days per week, 40 hours, shifts are between 8am to 8pm Monday to Thursday, 8am to 6pm Friday and 8am to 4pm on a Saturday, OOH once a week or once and fortnight, weekends on call one in 9 one of those weekends is a full-on call and the other is a hospital weekend for any remaining inpatients.

About Us

Crown Vets Inverness comprises of three practices. We have Argyle Street which is a busy practice with four consult rooms and three theatres. Culloden has two consult rooms and one theatre, finally Canalside, where we have two consult rooms. We have lots of great equipment including multiparameter for all surgery, ADE, Doppler, clean and dirty ops theatres, separate dog, cat, and isolation kennels plus much more and most recently a top of the range digital xray. All of this allows us to offer a comprehensive service to our clients. Inverness is a great place to live, and our practices are based in areas that allow you to get out at lunchtime, whether its shopping, a walk in the woods or a peaceful walk down the canal. The airport here has great connections to the rest of the UK and a few places in Europe. If the outdoor lifestyle is for you, then you would be hard pushed to live in a better place in Scotland, hillwalking, cycling, wild swimming, water sports are abundant here, and within easy reach.

About the Team and Culture

We have 14 vets, 12 nurses, 3 VCAs and we also have a dedicated dispenser. We have a large team of experienced support staff, covering reception and office work that work across the three practices to keep the practice running smoothly. We have a Medicine certificate holder, and two vets working towards Medicine and Surgery certs. We are lucky to also have in our group a Referral Practice that covers orthopaedic, soft tissue, dermatology, and pain management, giving us the opportunity to easily refer, they are going to be in our fourth practice later this year that will be fitted out with all the latest equipment including a CT scanner which our first opinion clients will have direct access to.

We are looking for a Nurse that can be part of our growing future, who wants to offer the best client care, and works well in a busy team environment. Our team are passionate about the local community and pre covid, held many charity fundraisers. Our greatest achievement to date was raising enough money to purchase and donate 45 pet oxygen kits to fire stations across Scotland.

Leading from the front, we are passionate about environmental sustainability; always choosing eco options, recycling where possible and eliminating waste.

You must be a Registered Veterinary Nurse, want the best for patients If you are newly qualified, we can help you grow in your nursing career and build your confidence, if you have a few more years’ experience and have the desire to learn more, we will support you to. At our Canalside surgery, we offer first opinion consultations with our veterinary surgeons and nurses. We have regular, dedicated cat only mornings for our senior cat clinics to be held in a peaceful environment.
 
Crown Vets Drumnadrochit
We are holding a monthly clinic at Glenurquhart Village Hall to help reduce stress in pets travelling for veterinary appointments without any additional charges. We offer routine, first opinion consultations with our veterinary surgeon and a collection service for pre-ordered veterinary prescriptions and food.
