Job Details

As well as being Peaky Blinders fans, we are an independent, small animal practice hoping to expand our lovely team. Whether you are a new graduate just getting started in your career, or an experienced surgeon with a wealth of knowledge, we can support you and help develop your career.

You would be working alongside 5 other vets, including our two partners, Stephen and Louise who are always on the ground getting stuck in and are here to help you and answer questions throughout the day. There is additional support from our fantastic nursing team of 7 RVNs and 2 SVNs and you will have access to some great kit including our in-house lab, digital dental x-ray, ultrasound, and endoscopy.

One of our senior vets, Charlotte is currently undertaking the RCVS Vet GDP Advisor training and she is ready and waiting for a new graduate! Charlotte has a keen interest in imaging and feline medicine so you can rest assured you will be in safe hands with her help. Further study is actively encouraged here, and certificates will be fully funded.

We are a really close-knit team and genuinely enjoy working together and getting together outside work too. There is always a little something fun being organised for us on a monthly basis; in February we were treated to a pamper pack of face masks and bath bombs, in April we had an Easter ‘egg’ hunt where the team had to find the chocolate Dachshunds, Walter and Wilma, and this month everyone is on a mission to win a Virgin experience day!  After the stress of the pandemic, a much-needed night out was had for our Christmas party last year and everyone was deservedly spoiled by the practice. We even had a Peaky Blinders night in honour of one of our VCAs hen do’s – we are in Birmingham after all!

Pype Hayes

If we haven’t sold you on us yet, here’s what some of our team have to say about working here...

“I started at Pype Hayes vets as a new graduate and the whole team has been friendly and supportive from day one. I have been here over 12 months now and can’t imagine being where I am today without them”. – Shannon, MRCVS

“I have only been at Pype Hayes for just over 6 months, yet it feels like home. It is like a family here and everyone is so genuinely lovely and caring. Everyone gets on and management are great! Clients are also lovely and a pleasure to work with.” Hannah - Receptionist

Our full-time working week is currently 40 hours, but we are very open to part-time work and flexible hours. We are actively looking at our rota and working hard towards creating an even better work-life balance for the team. Would you prefer a 4-day week? Or would split shifts suit you? You tell us what you need, and we will work with you to make it happen. We are an open book and want you to be happy here!

Our Saturday rota is currently 2:5 from 9am until 4:30pm, but we are working towards a 1:3 rota and this is also always up for discussion with you. We do have our own in-patient checks where one evening a week you would be scheduled to check on any inpatients we have. However all of our OOHs are seen by an external emergency vet, so there is no additional on call to worry about on Sunday’s or Bank Holidays. As we are all based at one site, there is no sole charge work either.

Here’s what else we can offer:

  • Salary from £35,000 - £65,000
  • 5 weeks holiday plus bank holidays, increasing with length of service
  • Visa sponsorship if needed
  • Relocation package
  • Private medical insurance
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • RCVS and VDS fees paid for

If working with such a brilliant team offering plenty of support and clinical freedom is just what you are after, then please get in touch with us for an informal chat or click the apply button now!
