Job Details

Do you like chips and gravy (we don’t mind if you prefer curry!)? Then you will love our Christmas Eve tradition…

We close the practice at 1pm and all get together in the staff room for chips and gravy while sharing the Secret Santa pressies, which is always a great laugh as some do sensible gifts and some not so sensible!! We are vets and nurses after all…

We are a sociable bunch who like to get together and go paddle boarding on the broads and compete in the 5k inflatable race at the showground to celebrate a team members “big” birthday. Our pre-pandemic Christmas Do was a cocktail masterclass and meal in Norwich, which was great fun, if just a little bit competitive to see who could make the best cocktail!

There is a lot of laughter in our practice, and we have created a professional, but really friendly and supportive work environment. We will always help each other out. Since 2015, we have grown from a four vet to 6.5 vet practice and are an amazing team of 28. We have a great work life balance. The vet team enjoy a four-day week with a 1 in 3 Saturday (when the Saturday is worked this is counted as one of the four days that week), with an average 32 hours per week.

Our rota is designed to give one four-day weekend and one three-day weekend per six weeks.

We are a small animal first opinion veterinary practice based in the beautiful Norfolk Broads, and fortunate to have the city of Norwich a short car or train ride away, the broads on our doorstep and the amazing Norfolk coast a short drive away, the best of all worlds. Plus an international airport just 18 minutes away .

David has been working with Bridge Vets since 2004 where he started as a locum for what was meant to be a short-term cover – well I guess you could say time flies when you are having fun! 18 years on and from locum to lead vet and now the owner of a small animal practice, that we are very proud to call our own. David graduated from Edinburgh Vet school in 1996 and has a wealth of experience not only in years, but he also very much enjoys teaching and mentoring the team – every day is a school day.

Bridge Veterinary Practice Ltd

Our ethos has always been clear: to look after our team with respect and kindness; to do the best for the animals in our care within the means of our clients.  The service we provide to our clients is of the utmost importance and to provide a friendly and personal approach with complete clinical autonomy, which our clients fully appreciate as they know we are not trying to sell them everything under the sun. We take pride in doing our job well. We’re not here to meet targets but to do our best to help our clients decide what’s right for them. Our clients are great, intelligent, caring and who trust us to do our job, knowing that we will always do our best.

The practice has four consulting rooms, prep room, theatre, lab, imaging suite, separate dog, cat and isolation wards, lab, with a staff room (including coffee machine with hot chocolate!) and offices upstairs, it is lovely to have a staff room and chill with a cuppa and catch up with the team.

We have a great array of equipment from our latest purchase of our fab Phillips ultrasound machine to digital dental x-ray, tonometer (Tonovet plus), and video gastroscope and bronchoscope, rhinoscope, along with laparoscopic surgical stack and full Idexx lab including urinary sediment analyser - Sedivue, (the nurses really appreciate this machine).

Here’s what else we can offer:

  • Salary starting from £39,500 to £65,000, with additional payments for extra responsibilities and certificates
  • No OOH, Sunday, or Bank holidays (Norwich Night Vet cover our OOH’S)
  • VDS, RCVS, BVA memberships 6.6 weeks annual leave (including bank holidays)
  • Your birthday off
  • CPD allowance is always up for discussion! Certificates are encouraged and funded.
  • We have tea breaks built into the diary with 30 minutes in the morning and 1 hour in the afternoon

So, that is who we are and what we have to offer, so who are we looking for? We are looking for a team player with some experience, who wants to enjoy all aspects of medicine, surgery and all the challenges that a high quality first opinion practice provides.

If we sound like the practice, you are looking for - then press the apply button below now and we will look forward to meeting you…

Company

Bridge Veterinary Practice was founded in October 1986. It remains independently owned, having been taken on by David & Marie Martin in 2015 when the previous owners decided to retire. David had been the lead vet at Bridge for the previous 11 years, providing a progressive, personal and supportive environment, with friendly staff and clients.

We are located on the edge of the beautiful Norfolk Broads, only 15-20 minutes from Norwich centre by car.

Amongst our 8 vets and 11 RVN's there is a wealth of experience and support, including a surgery certificate holder.

We have a dedicated out of hours service with genuine 24 hour care, enabling our team to enjoy a great work life balance.

We aim to provide high quality veterinary care, whilst retaining a family feel, with fun along the way.
