Company

The School of Veterinary Science in Liverpool was the first veterinary school to be part of a University, and has always been a leading education provider for the vets of the future.

We are unique among British veterinary schools in having two on-site working farms as well as two referral hospitals, and three first opinion practices, (the practice has full hospitalisation and surgical facilities). This enables undergraduates to gain valuable hands-on experience of all aspects of veterinary practice: equine, large animal, and small animal.

Based on the main University of Liverpool campus, and at our dedicated Leahurst campus in Cheshire, we also offer postgraduate courses alongside a full calendar of day, evening, and onlineContinuing Professional Development courses for veterinary surgeons, veterinary nurses, and chartered physiotherapists.

Our overriding aim is to be a centre for regional, national and international excellence in research and learning in animal health and welfare. We aim to produce the world’s best veterinary surgeons by providing relevant training underpinned with the latest scientific knowledge.

To this end we've developed energetic fundamental and clinical research programmes, together with world-renowned referral hospitals and University-owned farms that model new, best practice for professionals everywhere.

Throughout the School, our friendly and approachable staff view all students as future colleagues, whatever their eventual focus. We also place a big emphasis on investment for the future, with new teaching facilities at our Liverpool and Leahurst campuses helping us to create an environment of ‘learning through doing’. Our teaching suites incorporate small and large group tuition areas, clinical skills labs and the latest technology to encourage collaboration, discussion and debate.

But it's not all work and no play: there's an active and inclusive social scene, run by students for students. No wonder we were ranked 1st nationally in the Guardian University Guide 2015.
