The Role

Here at Abbey Vet Centre, we are looking for a Deputy Clinical Director to join our team. If you are looking for that next step in your career and the opportunity to develop others whilst also developing yourself then this could be the ideal role for you.

As a senior member of the team, you will be required to carry out veterinary duties while supporting the team, but also contribute to the management team by working alongside the Clinical Director.

At Abbey Vet Centre we put animal welfare at the heart of everything we do, we seek to provide the highest level of care to all our clients and patients. We aim to create a calm working environment where we have time to communicate with our clients to ensure a pleasant experience for both staff and clients alike. Our current vet rota consists of a 40-hour week over 4 days between the hours of 8am and 7pm Monday to Friday, plus 1 in 3 Saturdays. There are no out-of-hours or on call with this role. The salary for this role is up to £60,000 depending on experience.

We also offer a welcome bonus up to £1500 and a relocation allowance of up to £1500.

About Us
Abbey Vet Centre is a small animal only practice. We have two branches with one in Durham and one in Chester le Street. Durham is a lovely city with excellent transport links to the North and South. There is a beautiful coast and dales nearby for people who prefer the countryside.
Both sites are fully equipped and independent, but we all work at both branches. Facilities include digital radiography, dental x-ray, ultrasonography, endoscope, multiparameter, laser, and more.

We have ten Veterinary Surgeons, nine Registered Veterinary Nurses, one Student Veterinary Nurse, two Auxiliary Nurses, and an excellent Reception Team. We also have a supportive admin team who takes care of financial matters including insurance. Our practice puts quality above quantity, this is to make sure our patients get excellent care and to make sure staff have a nice working environment.

Our team is incredibly friendly and supportive and is looking forward to welcoming a new member to the team.

Applicant Requirements
We're looking for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon with an interest in management, to work alongside the Clinical Director. We are wanting a team player, who has a great work ethic and shares our passion for delivering patient and client care of the highest standard.

The candidate must be an experienced RCVS Registered Veterinary Surgeon.

Christopher Whalley started Abbey Vets small animal practice at Neville's Cross, Durham in April 1994. Since then the practice has grown, offering a professional, high standard, caring veterinary service.

A small branch was opened in Chester-Le-Street in November 1996 and has since developed into a purpose built main surgery on Pelton Fell Road in Chester-Le-Street, which opened in February 2006.
