The Role

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic small animal General Practitioner to lead our friendly and supportive team. The position is full-time (4 days per week and 1 in 3 Saturday morning surgeries) but we are happy to look at a part time candidate to take on the role. There is no OOH. You would join our established and helpful team which allows a flexible split between clinical and managerial roles. The position would entail leading the Hadleigh clinic and maintaining our traditional culture whilst ensuring our high progressive standards of care and service continue to grow. This would offer a rare and exciting opportunity in a practice which has been steeped in the community for many decades.

You would work alongside the Clinical Director currently running our Brantham surgery and the Practice Manager to share the overall managerial running of the practice.

Salary

The salary for this role is up to £65,000 depending on experience

About Us

Our Hadleigh clinic is based in the heart of the small Suffolk market town of the same name, close to the coast and only a one-hour mainline train journey to London from nearby Manningtree. This picturesque town is close to our Brantham Clinic. The surgery is based in a Grade 2 listed building with a modern purpose-built extension encompassing two operating theatres, separate dog and cat kennelling, prep area, and diagnostic imaging suite. The building is fully air-conditioned with piped anaesthetic gases. It also has a separate isolation kennelling area in our enclosed car park.

We are RCVS GP status accredited, a Cat Friendly Practice and a TP Nurse Training centre. The facilities include digital x-ray, ultrasound, video endoscopy/bronchoscopy, fully equipped laboratory facilities and multi parameter monitoring equipment, radio surgery, Class IV K Laser, Tonometry and Bair Hugger. Dental X-Ray to follow this year.

About the Team and Culture

There are 3 full and 4 part time Vets with a strong, established, and supportive team of 6 Registered Veterinary Nurses. The clinical team is supported by an experienced group of Receptionists.

We have a part time vet who is an Advanced Practitioner in Diagnostic Imaging working each week. We actively encourage certificate study having several vets currently enrolled. Our in-house orthopaedics is undertaken at the Hadleigh surgery. We also have a visiting Cardiology Diplomat helping us improve our overall cardiology knowledge and care.

We are a friendly and sociable practice enjoying meeting up outside of work and have been lucky to have people returning to us over the years. Feedback from staff members always highlights the high level of support and encouragement that they have received from Highcliff during their time working with us.

Supporting the annual Agricultural Show and community events is high on our agenda in normal times.

Company

The Highcliff Veterinary Practice is a long-established reputable local practice serving south Suffolk and the Essex-border area. We offer many products and services to help domestic pets. Whether you have a hamster or a Great Dane, we are here to help!

The origins of Highcliff Veterinary Practice can be traced from the first half of the nineteenth century, from the Grimwade family of Farriers, Horse Doctors and Insurers. They lived and worked in Kersey, and as was traditional at this time, a horse's tail hung outside the house to enable clients to recognise the trade. This still remains today hanging from the eves of a house near the ford in the village. The practice moved to Hadleigh after the Second World War. Three generations of the Lemon family (George, Alfred and Donald), worked locally from 1870 until Donald retired in 1977.

By this time the practice had grown considerably. A branch in Ipswich had been established from partner Roy Hullis' home in St Johns Rd and this moved to new premises in Cliff Lane in the early 1970s. The name was changed from Lemon, Sutherland, Ryde and partners to Highcliff Veterinary Practice, the name deriving from the premises at High Street, Hadleigh and Cliff Lane, Ipswich.

The Ipswich surgeries have been under separate ownership outwith Highcliff Veterinary Practice since the Summer of 2014 meaning the practice is now composed of branches in Hadleigh and at Factory Lane, Cattawade, Brantham near Manningtree.
