About Us

We are a two site, small animal practice, with one branch which is consulting only. The practice has been established since the 1930’s and has evolved over the years with the changing pace of veterinary medicine to offer a modern service with a well-established reputation. We are located in a busy market town close to the beautiful North Norfolk coastline. We are an hour’s drive from Norwich and London is 90 minutes away by train.

We have a really good mix of experience in our veterinary team, which includes an Advanced Practitioner in Cardiology and two of our Vets currently studying towards PgCerts in Internal Medicine and Dentistry and Oral Surgery. We are actively encouraging our Vets to further their knowledge and passion towards a chosen topic, and we are happy to fund and support any post-graduate studies. Our Vets work closely with each other, offering advice to their colleagues and working up cases together to achieve the best possible results for our patients. We see a varied caseload and our Veterinary Surgeons have clinical freedom and are well supported by our proactive and experienced nursing and reception teams. We hold daily ward rounds, monthly vet meetings and clinical governance meetings, regular in-house, and external training sessions. We have a wide range of diagnostic and surgical equipment. We are a silver ISFM accredited practice with a strong emphasis on patient care and a Fear Free approach for all our patients.

Our team consists of 6 Veterinary Surgeons. We have a certificate holder and Advanced Practitioner in Veterinary Cardiology, whilst two of our other Vets are currently studying towards PgCerts in Internal Medicine and Dentistry and Oral Surgery respectively. Our well-established, experienced nursing team consists of 6 Registered Veterinary Nurses and 1 Student Veterinary Nurse which are supported by our team of 5 Patient Care Assistants.  One of our Patient Care Assistants holds a COAPE level 2 Diploma in Animal Behaviour, being able to offer a wide array of behavioural services to our client base.

We are working with Cats Protection Downham Market AC, seeing a varied medical and surgical caseload, with one day per week dedicated solely to this work. We also have a longstanding history of caring for RAF Marham’s Military Working Dogs.

Applicant Requirements

We are looking for a Veterinary Surgeon who is confident in dealing with the varied caseload that a small animal practice has to offer. This would include routine and non-routine surgical and medical procedures, diagnostics, and consultations. A surgical bias is desirable but not essential; further studies in this field would be actively encouraged and supported. We are willing to offer a relocation package for the right candidate.
