THE ROLE

 

The role of Managing Director is a key senior, strategic leadership position within our Primary Care business. You will be responsible for all aspects of performance of the Primary Care businesses within your remit, through the strong, inspirational leadership of your team of Regional Directors, working with business partners and other stakeholders. You will report to the Chief Operating Officer and take responsibility for the continued delivery and growth of Linnaeus Primary Care Practices. This is an exciting position with potential for career progression in a growing business leading within the Veterinary industry both within the UK and globally as part of Mars Veterinary Health.

 

In this key role you will ensure that your Regional Directors are developed, motivated and inspired, so that they in turn provide strong leadership to their practice teams. You will lead on the development and delivery of strategic initiatives to ensure your Primary Care businesses achieve clinical excellence. You will ensure a clear focus on well-being and engagement throughout your own team and the practice teams. You will have accountability for business performance and deliver the annual business plan across all operational elements including quality, people, finance, compliance, client experience and sustainability.

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

  • At least 5 years within a Director-level (or equivalent) leadership role in Operations/HR/Finance/Clinical within a service delivery business
  • Demonstrates appropriate level of understanding in the principles and practices of working in a regulated profession
  • Strategic thinking – implementation of major change projects and growth strategies
  • High commercial acumen
  • Multi-site management in a service delivery environment
  • Effective leader, but also able to work collaboratively with other key-role holders across a matrix corporate organisation
  • Experienced and credible communicator
  • Change leadership - programme management and people engagement
  • Inclusive approach to all interactions
  • Full UK Driving Licence and ability to travel nationally as required.

 

 

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Leading from the front demonstrating the values and principles of Linnaeus and Mars Veterinary Health
  • Actively promoting a positive attitude to maintain health and mental wellbeing in the workplace
  • Working alongside the COO to be responsible for the delivery of the strategy, business plan and P&L, demonstrating commercial focus, a structured approach, financial acumen, energy, positivity and enthusiasm
  • Ensuring the delivery & development of the highest quality clinical services, achieved through the over-arching leadership of your clinical and non-clinical teams and other key stakeholders, whilst promoting clinical research
  • Working closely with the Primary Care Medical Directors and Field Nursing Managers to help establish a robust clinical framework which will continually improve the clinical outcomes of the animals under our care
  • Working in partnership with your HR Business Partner to support your Regional Directors to deliver a robust people plan for your businesses which delivers high associate engagement, addresses retention, attrition, talent and well-being, and continues to promote that Linnaeus is a great place to work
  • Ensuring compliance on Health & Safety, property and maintenance through the Regional Directors and other stakeholders
  • Periodic reporting of business unit performance to the Linnaeus Exec, alongside your regional stakeholders and business partners.
