Float Vet, Calder Vets NO WEEKENDS

Salary £40-60k doe

Calder Vets is a high quality primary care and referral practice with 11 clinics across South and West Yorkshire, including a 24/7 Tier 3 Hospital.  We are proud to provide our own 24-hour on-site emergency care through our dedicated ECC night team. We offer a full range of primary care services, such as consultations, preventative healthcare, vaccinations, routine and non-routine surgery, dentistry and imaging (x-ray, ultrasound). We are also able to offer some advanced services such as laparoscopy, endoscopy, soft tissue and orthopaedic surgeries, cardiology, ophthalmology and CT, and we have our own rehabilitation service with physiotherapy, hydrotherapy and laser therapy.

We have a fantastic team across all of our sites, and we all support each other. We often discuss clinical cases and get involved in social events. We have a large vet team and are supported by fantastic nursing and front of house teams. Many of our vets are working towards certificates in surgery, imaging, dermatology, cardiology and ophthalmology.

This is a unique opportunity to enjoy the flexibility of locum life with the benefits of being an employee.

We are looking for an adaptable, experienced Vet who loves the variety of Primary Care Practices to come and work amongst our clinics to cover holidays, with some time at the main hospital to develop clinical interests. The position requires someone happy to work sole charge, as well as being comfortable in a hospital environment, who is confident and enjoys all elements of their work to include consulting, routine surgery and emergency case management.  You would be provided with a rota at least 6 weeks in advance and you would work an average of 40hours per week over the year with 6.6 weeks holiday and no weekends or OOH.

Your role and responsibilities

This is a fantastic role for an all-around GP Vet Surgeon looking for a rewarding position. It would also suit someone who wants to explore the practices at Calder before taking a fixed role.

Our ethos is clinical excellence and we try and live by our core values. Client and patient care are at the heart of what we do, and we are proud to be Cat-Friendly in many of our clinics. We run on 15-minute consults as a minimum.

  • Excellent salary package up to £60,000 commensurate with experience (including RCVS fees paid, and £2,000 CPD allowance)
  • Linnaeus CPD Programme (including certificate holder level and leadership CPD)
  • Wellness programme
  • Staff discounts
  • Pension
  • 5 weeks holiday (plus banks holidays AND your birthday off!)
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Eyecare vouchers.

Our mission at Calder Vets is simply this – to provide a first class personal, caring and professional service to you and your pet, backed up by some of the best facilities in the North of England.

We will do our utmost to provide and advise you on the best preventative healthcare. However, should your pet become ill we will always try and discuss all the available options with you; from basic, simple treatments through to more advanced tests and procedures, should they be required. This means you can make the right decision for your pet armed with all the information you need.

Our vets will always advise you based on what they genuinely believe is in the best interests of your pet. No one at Calder Vets is on commission or ‘performance related pay’, and never will be. All we ask our vets and nurses is that they look after your pets as if they were there own. The number of clients who recommended us to their friends and family is hopefully testament to this.

The nature of Veterinary Medicine is changing, but our practice is still owned by and run by Vets only. This is something that will never change.
