Job Details

Donnachie & Townley Veterinary Centre is a group of two small animal practices, which have serviced the veterinary needs of companion animals in Rugeley and the surrounding area for over three decades.

Both of our premises are accredited by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Practice Standards Scheme in both Core Standards and Tier 2 Small Animal General Practice. We also have achieved silver status in the Cat Friendly scheme in both of our practices, something our associates are very proud of. Our two practices are light and spacious and have recently been renovated. Our Rugeley site has 2 theatres which are glass linked, we also have a digital x-ray, in house blood machines, ultrasound, dental radiography & all the dental equipment needed.

As a practice we are really proud of our closely knit, supportive team. We are all motivated individuals who are passionate about high standards and the pets in our care. We are a sociable bunch who enjoy our working days together. We are an experienced 6 Veterinary Surgeon team supported by a dedicated RVN & front of house team.  Investing in our associates and professional development is important to us and is actively encouraged. Two of our Vets are working towards certificates in internal medicine & dermatology.  D&T Vets are associated with Shires Vets which means we can offer a fantastic range of facilities and services across our group. Although there will not be the need to work at the Shires site, we are able to have regular Vet meetings between both sites, we share CPD events and if a surgeon is looking for a specific caseload, we should be able to support this between the two groups.

We are a local practice and are passionate about building great rapport with our clients and being part of the local community. Some of our clients have been visiting us for many years and we treat every pet that visits us, as if they were our own. Case continuity is important to us, where possible.
We predominantly care for small animals, but we often offer first aid to wildlife and we do work with a local aquatic and reptile shops so have been known to care for the odd owl, hedgehog, snakes and even a baby dragon.

We are now looking for a Veterinary Surgeon to join us on a fixed term contract. We would be open to full and part time applications. Our full-time rota is:

·        40 hours per week, over 4 days. (Set day off)

·        1 in 3 Saturday mornings (8am – 12:30)

·        3x 8am-6pm shifts and 1x 8am-8pm.

·        No OOH’s

We are ideally looking for a Vet Surgeon to join us on a 12-month contract but are open to discussing shorter or longer fixed terms, so please do speak to us about the ideal role for you. There may also be the potential for the role to be a permanent position, between the D&T & Shires group, at the end of the 12-month contract.

Your day-to-day role at D&T Vets would include 1 day of surgery, 1 day of consultations & 2 days of a mixture of both. If you do have a surgical bias or prefer consultations, we would be open to tailoring the frequency of surgery with your role, to match your preference.

The ideal candidate for this role would be a surgeon who feels comfortable with all first opinion duties. We may be able to support a surgeon with more advanced procedures if you feel comfortable with all routine first opinion duties.

Both our sites are based in lovely market towns just a 50-minute drive from the city of Birmingham. We have easy access to the city or the more peaceful countryside surroundings. West Midlands airport is also just a 60-minute drive away.

We are part of Linnaeus, which is a vibrant community of veterinary practices across the UK and Ireland. Linnaeus works across a range of areas within veterinary medicine from small animal to farm and equine. All our practices are individual but two important things bring us together; a commitment to excellence in everything we do and our passion to make A BETTER WORLD FOR PETS.

Benefits Package:

·        Salary up to £48,000 dependent on experience.

·        Generous CPD allowance + 3-5 CPD days.

·        150+ hours of online, inhouse CPD & content.

·        5 weeks annual leave, inc bank holidays plus your birthday off!

·        RCVS /VDS membership fully funded

Company

Donnachie and Townley Veterinary surgeons originally practised in Church Street, Rugeley, there having been a veterinary practice on that site since 1923. Due to the continual expansion of the companion animal side of the practice, a move became inevitable, and in 1992 the Veterinary Centre was opened in Market Street, Rugeley.

The Centre is a purpose-built premises, designed to provide the most comprehensive veterinary care for your pet. The practice has a branch surgery in Stafford which also provides consultation and surgical facilities for companion animals.

Both of our premises are accredited by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Practice Standards Scheme in Small Animal Core Standards.
