The role:

We are currently seeking a surgery certificate-holder Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly and supportive team at our hospital in Birstall, Leicestershire. We offer an attractive working week comprising 4 weekdays of 8 hours each. The practice is conveniently located with good transport links to London and East Midland Airport is just a 30-minute drive away.

You will be the surgical lead for the hospital and the Leicester area. You will receive surgical referrals from your colleagues in the hospital and our friendly vets in Medivet practices in the Leicester and Loughborough area.

You will be comfortable performing both orthopaedics and soft tissue surgery up to certificate holder level.

You will be comfortable performing a form of TTA or TPLO. We currently stock TTA Rapid but an alternative kit will be bought to suit, should you have a different preference.

This role is full time comprising 4 weekdays of 8 hours each, with each 8-hour shift falling between 9 am and 7 pm on an 'early' and 'late' rota. Weekend work is one in every 6 weekends, both Saturday and Sunday 9 am to 7 pm. This works out at 35 hours per week.

Salary and benefits:

  • - Salary £65,000-75,000 dependent on experience
  • - CPD allowance with 3 days’ CPD leave
  • - VDS, RCVS, BVA fees paid
  • - 5 weeks’ annual leave plus bank holidays
  • - Fantastic career progression and partnership opportunities

We can also offer a relocation package in the UK and overseas, this will be based on individual circumstances and distance.

If you are currently working towards a certificate we can support you in the buy-out with full financial support. Or if you would like to start a certificate Medivet will cover the cost.

Branch:

The practice sees a varied caseload and is a training practice for nurses and vets training on our Graduate Support Programme. The practice is a 24-hour Hospital and is the main centre in the region.

Experience working in an environment where colleagues support you by sharing skills and knowledge to give our patients the best outcomes. Your team colleagues hold certificates in Dermatology and ECC and one is an experienced ultrasonographer.

We will provide you with mentorship and support to help you develop your career and get the most satisfaction from your job.
