The Role
Heartland Veterinary Services have an excellent opportunity for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join their friendly team! Your responsibilities will include;
- General nursing duties
- Occasional reception work
- Caring for day patients
- Preparing animals for surgery
- Monitoring anaesthetics
- Sterilisation of equipment and instruments
- Stock control and drug auditing
The surgery is open 9 am-5 pm and we are happy to offer flexible shifts to the right candidate. No routine out of hours work, but in the case of emergency, you may be requested to assist with anaesthetic, in which case a call out fee would be paid (currently £100).
The salary is up to £25,000 FTE depending on experience.
About Us
We are a 2 branch, mixed practice serving the communities of Highland Perthshire, a beautiful rural location with a lot of outdoor activities available. Pitlochry is located on the A9 trunk road with easy access to the rest of Scotland and other transport links. We are fully equipped, with facilities such as digital x-ray, ultrasound, therapeutic laser and in house laboratory equipment. The successful candidate would mainly be based at our Pitlochry surgery but may occasionally have to provide cover at Aberfeldy. Our dedicated team is made up of 6 vets and 2 vet nurses working between the 2 sites along with a further 7 support staff. Our vets do a mix of farm, equine and small animal work. We are a very close-knit team and support a lot of local events over the year including Agricultural Shows, Sheepdog Trials and Young Farmer Events
Applicant Requirements
Our ideal candidate is a qualified vet nurse or student vet nurse with some experience and confidence, but further training will be given as needed. The main qualities we are looking for are excellent people skills and the ability to work as a team.
