Head Veterinary Nurse - Bathgate, West Lothian

The Role

Ayrton Veterinary Hospital are looking for a Head Veterinary Nurse to lead our team. As our Head Nurse, you will be responsible for managing our current nursing team whilst working alongside them performing clinical duties as required, clinical coaching and mentoring will be  a big part of this role. Ayrton are a 1^st opinion ECC hospital offering a variety of caseloads including in patient hospitalisation, OOH and ECC work meaning no day is ever the same, you will have autonomy to create protocols and make improvements within the team whilst being supported by our Clinical Directors and Practice Manager.

Rota

Working 38 hours per week (Part time hours available)

Across 4/5 days

1:5 on call OOH (entails 1 night per week on the end of the phone not in practice)

1:5 weekends (Saturday (8:30am-1pm then on call after this time & Sunday) – TOIL after weekend on with a half day the following week

Salary 

Up to £30,000 negotiable D.O.E.

About Us

Ayrton Veterinary Hospital is a modern, purpose-built Veterinary Hospital situated in Whitburn, just off the M8 and almost exactly halfway between Glasgow and Edinburgh making us very convenient for travel. Our  practice consists of 4 Veterinary Surgeons and 5 registered Veterinary Nurses, together we have a wide range of clinical interests ranging from laparoscopic surgery to acupuncture and even some occasional work for the nearby Owl Sanctuary!  We also have one Animal Care Assistant who helps provide plenty of TLC to our patients and team alike. Our support team is made up of our Practice Manager, Insurance Co-ordinator and our lovely five-strong Reception team who are instrumental in the smooth running of our day.

We are proud to be a Gold Cat-Friendly Practice with medicine and anaesthesia/critical care certificate holders, and we work closely together with our local Dogs Trust Centre helping to treat and improve their resident’s quality of life.

Applicant Requirements

Must be an experienced RVN and on the RCVS register, management training and a clinical coaching qualification would be beneficial, but we are happy to help you undergo this training if you require it. We are looking for an enthusiastic and capable individual with strong communication skills and a team ethos, This role would be ideal for an experienced RVN looking to potentially move into their first management role.
