The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head Veterinary Nurse at Crown Vets. Crown Vets is an incredible, fast-paced practice, with three sites based in Inverness, the capital of the Highlands.

This role would be ideal for someone looking to make a huge impact in a well-established veterinary practice. As the Head RVN, you would have the ability to evolve the nursing team and their roles, create new protocols and make improvements as you see fit.

  • 40 hours per week
  • Salary of up to £30,000 depending on experience 
  • Responsible and accountable for leading the Nursing and Auxiliary teams. Responsible for all aspects of the nursing and auxiliary team’s management to include, but not be limited to: recruitment, performance management, appraisal and absence management in line with Company policy.
  • To act as a role model to all clinical staff, demonstrating a strong clinical and leadership role.
  • Working with the Client Service Team to ensure a high-level customer of service is instilled in all members of the nursing and auxiliary teams.
  • Assist the Practice/Clinical Director in ensuring compliance with risk assurance processes including; health and safety; security; clinical governance, Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) guidelines, and data protection
  • Create a clear and effective two-way communication within the nursing team ensuring all team members are kept up to date.
  • Responsible for the management of performance related issues
  • Infection prevention and control
  • Ensure completion of CPD log / online tracker in accordance with RCVS requirement
  • Liaise with Deputy Head RVN
  • Carry out clinical duties such as, anaesthesia, radiography, laboratory work and nurse clinics
  • Discuss new equipment requests management
  • Clinical coaching and organising of students are desired and to be managed between head nurse and deputy head nurse. Crown Vets are happy to put you though clinical coaching training if required
  • A strong desire to keep evolving and improving the clinical standards

About our wonderful team:

You will assist in the recruitment of a Deputy Head Veterinary Nurse and will work together to lead a fantastic team of 11 RVN’s, 3 VCA’s, 2 SVN’s and a Dispensary Assistant. You really will have the opportunity to put your own stamp on things.

We are holding a monthly clinic at Glenurquhart Village Hall to help reduce stress in pets travelling for veterinary appointments without any additional charges. We offer routine, first opinion consultations with our veterinary surgeon and a collection service for pre-ordered veterinary prescriptions and food.
