The Role
We are looking for an experienced veterinary surgeon to join our team at Castle Vets Pet Healthcare Centre!

In this role you would be working alongside 3-6 vets each day, case discussion and idea sharing is actively encouraged and we actively promote our staff completing certificates and CPD in specific interests.

We are happy to accept both full and part-time applications, full time would cover 40 hours per week working a combination of shifts 8 am-7 pm, 8:30 am-7 pm, 10 am-7 pm or 8 am-4 pm, over 4 days, with 2:5 Saturday mornings (finishing at 1 pm.) You will have 1:5 Saturdays off giving you a 4 day weekend, with your other days off falling on Monday and Friday!

No out of hours – we are a VetsNow host practice so are lucky to be able to keep our inpatients on site.

About Us
We are a thriving, large practice in the centre of Reading. Situated in a purpose-built building we have separate dog and cat waiting rooms through to separate theatres.  We have CT, video endoscopy, digital x-ray and good quality Doppler ultrasound machine, slit-lamp biomicroscopy, tonometer and well-stocked in-house Idexx laboratory. We are currently installing digital dental x-ray in our dedicated dental suite and upgrading our cat kennels to fit gold standard ISFM. We are lucky to have separate exotics ward for our smaller friends away from predator species and dedicated ‘farewell’ rooms for euthanasia in a softer setting. We happily develop facilities and equipment to suit the team and their interests.

We have a large on-site carpark for staff and client parking with CCTV. We have a dedicated mindfulness room upstairs in the practice to enable people to relax away from the stresses of day to day role.

About the Team and Culture
We are an 8 vet (FTE) team with ECVS specialists in soft tissue and orthopaedics who visit once a week. We have a medicine certificate holder and 2 vets working towards the BSAVA Ophthalmology and Surgery certificates who are keen to share skills and knowledge.

We are a nurse training practice and have a large team of passionate registered veterinary nurses, student veterinary nurses and animal nursing assistants who are always on-site and provide excellent care to our inpatients. Our dedicated nurses/administrators perform all insurance paperwork and work alongside our friendly reception team!
