The Role

Here at Galemire Vets, we are looking for a dedicated Veterinary Surgeon to join our team. This is a full-time permanent role, working 40 hours a week, over 4-5 days. There is a requirement to work 1 in every 4 weekends with bank holidays being shared between the veterinary team. The role will entail consultations, operations, monitoring hospitalised patients and more.

The Salary range is up to £60,000 depending on experience. Accommodation is available, either part of the package in one of our cottages, or a nice choice of rental properties in the area (relocation package available to assist with this). 

About Us

We are based in the beautiful county of Cumbria with plenty of mountains and fresh sea air. We are comprehensively equipped with digital radiography, scans, scopes bp monitoring & full idexx laboratory to mention but a few! There has been a Veterinary practice at Galemire since 1966. We are ideally located for lovers of the outdoors, between the coast (3miles) and the West Lakeland Fells (4miles). We are also close to the small town of Whitehaven with its beautiful port, plenty of shops and a lot of outdoor activities.
7 FTE Vets, 6 FTE RVNs with a team of SVN's and ACA. A wonderful support team, including 2 PM's, a fabulous housekeeper and Reception team. A new Clinical Director has joined our young vibrant team and is wanting to progress and take the practice forward. This is an excellent chance for a blank canvas for someone wanting to put down roots in a nice part of the country. Good local schools and overall, a nice place to live. We are a friendly and approachable team with plenty of time to welcome new staff members. Applicant Requirements

MRCVS - happy to support a surgical or medical bias or help development-

We are looking for an enthusiastic, caring veterinary surgeon with excellent communication skills. All applicants will be considered from a vet surgeon with many years of experience to a newly qualified vet who freshly graduated from university. Further study, including certificates, is encouraged and funded. A full UK driving licence is required.

Galemire Hospital was originally established in 1966 as a general mixed, but mainly large animal, veterinary practice based in a Victorian built human infectious diseases hospital. In 1985 Galemire became a veterinary hospital, and now has state of the art facilities and equipment.  The majority of our work is now of a small animal nature.

We now have two sites in Cumbria, the hospital in Cleator Moor, and our surgery in Workington
