Here at St Clair’s Veterinary Group we have a fantastic opportunities available for a Veterinary Surgeons to join our wonderful team on a consult only or consult bias role.

  • Full-time and part-time opportunities available.
  • 4 or 5 day weeks welcome. Although we are flexible on rota and would be keen to discuss the ideal rota for you.
  • No OOH’s
  • Just 1 in 4 weekends covered by Two Vet Surgeons.

Roles and Responsibilities

Here at St Clair Vets, we have a busy caseload and provide a full range of routine primary care services & specialist services in ophthalmology referral and ancillary treatments like acupuncture all across 4 sites. We are a progressive, well-equipped practice in Kirkcaldy that’s been at the very heart of our local community for many years. We take pride in providing a caring, compassionate, and friendly service to all our clients and their precious pets.

As a Veterinary Surgeon at St Clair Vets your role will be a varied one. We are looking to welcome a surgeon who has a keen interest in consultations and we are happy to support a consult only role or a role with a large consulting caseload. We care for all small animals, wildlife, some exotics and even the odd seal!  You will see a variation of routine, preventative, and more advanced cases during your working week, and you will have the opportunity to work between our sites which will offer you different paces & caseloads, should you wish. If mentoring is something you enjoy, we have lots of opportunity to mentor & support our more recently graduated team members too.

As a group we are well equipped and have an extensive range of surgical and diagnostic equipment available which includes in-house biochemistry / haematology machines, operating microscopes, digital x-ray, ultrasound, video endoscope plus all the usual toys! You will be supported by our large, dedicated Vet team, highly experienced clinical directors, wonderful, experienced nurses, and a fantastic front of house team. Our team are important to us and you will feel supported at St Clair Vets. We all pull together through the hard times but equally enjoy each other’s company and are never short of humour. We have a big focus on mental health and work life balance too. We often discuss clinical cases and when possible, we do often attend socialising events.

Our varied caseload means we have been able to welcome & support many certificate holders over the years. In our team we currently have Certificate holders or Vets studying towards certs in; ECC, surgery, ophthalmology, internal medicine and more. We do have a small exotics caseload that we would be keen to consider increasing and welcome Vets with Exotic certificates/interests. On top of your personal CPD allowance, you will also have access to the wider Linnaeus team of referral specialists for further support and CPD. We encourage everyone within the team to have an input and feedback on the practices future.

The right candidates for our roles will be a friendly Veterinary Surgeons who feel comfortable with consultations. As a committed companion animal practice we pride ourselves on providing all services from within our own practice and using our own dedicated vet and nursing teams. We do not farm out our after hours emergency care to other practices and we provide fully staffed 24-hour hospitalisation facilities at our main surgery in Kirkcaldy.

We are a British Small Animal Veterinary Association approved practice and an Approved Training Centre, certified by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.
