Your role and responsibilities

We are currently looking for a Lead Veterinary Surgeon to join our exciting team. Your role as a Lead Veterinary Surgeon’s is key to the team’s ability to succeed. You will be leading and working alongside a clinical team including vets, nurses and receptionists at the main branch in Kirkcaldy and the branch surgeries, when necessary, all aiming towards providing the highest standards of care while, maximising efficiency, nourishing customer services and customer care and bond clients to St Clair Vet.  You will be responsible for managing the clinical activities of the practices and act as the first line of management, developing the team to optimise uptake of clinical services, mentoring the team to allow for personal development, showing initiative for innovation and change.

If you have over 5 Years’ experience, are MRCVS Certified and are enthusiastic, approachable, empathic person with excellent clinical- and communication skills please get in touch.

We care for all small animals, wildlife, some exotics and even the odd seal!  You will see a variation of routine, preventative, and more advanced cases during your working week, and you will have the opportunity to work between our sites which will offer you different paces & caseloads, should you wish. If mentoring is something you enjoy, we have lots of opportunity to mentor & support our more recently graduated team members too.

As a group we are well equipped and have an extensive range of surgical and diagnostic equipment available which includes in-house biochemistry / haematology machines, operating microscopes, digital x-ray, ultrasound, video endoscope plus all the usual toys! You will be supported by our large, dedicated Vet team, highly experienced clinical directors, wonderful, experienced nurses, and a fantastic front of house team. Our team are important to us and you will feel supported at St Clair Vets. We all pull together through the hard times but equally enjoy each other’s company and are never short of humour. We have a big focus on mental health and work life balance too. We often discuss clinical cases and when possible, we do often attend socialising events.

Our varied caseload means we have been able to welcome & support many certificate holders over the years. In our team we currently have Certificate holders or Vets studying towards certs in; ECC, surgery, ophthalmology, internal medicine and more. We do have a small exotics caseload that we would be keen to consider increasing and welcome Vets with Exotic certificates/interests. On top of your personal CPD allowance, you will also have access to the wider Linnaeus team of referral specialists for further support and CPD. We encourage everyone within the team to have an input and feedback on the practices future.

Part time or full time hours considered, 8 hrs day or 10 hrs days,  including consults, surgery,  emergency and critical care, 1:4 Saturdays.
