Life is Short. Work Somewhere Awesome!
If you’re a SA vet looking for the first or the next chapter in your career, then we would love you to join us.
We have six enthusiastic, experienced vets, seven fabulous RVNs, alongside a great bunch of support staff. We all come together to provide a really productive and enjoyable working environment.
We have an unusually low staff turnover which we are very proud of and feel it is a very good reflection of the practice as a whole. We all know how challenging the veterinary world can be at times but find that working within an experienced, supportive and truly friendly team helps to keep such challenges in perspective and makes them much more manageable.
The wellbeing of our team is extremely important to us and for this reason we strive to ensure that our vets have no sole charge, and we maintain work-life balance by using an out of hours service, so no on call for our vets and nurses. This also makes lots of time for our regular nights out- yay!
In a nutshell, we work hard, we laugh a lot, we eat a lot of cake, we love to socialise, and our Christmas parties are legendary!
Let me tell you a bit about the practice set up…
We have recently completed a building extension on the practice which has given us the space to have separate cat (and small furries) and dog waiting areas. The extension has also enabled us to create two operating theatres and five really good-sized consulting rooms (there’s nothing worse than a cramped consulting room, right?)
We have digital radiography within a separate room, ultrasound, endoscopes and an up-to-date lab. We have vets within the practice who perform orthopaedic and more complex soft tissues surgeries and they are always happy to offer support and encouragement should this be something that a new vet would like to try their hand at.
We absolutely encourage clinical freedom, and we are always open to ideas and suggestions. Our consultations are generally fifteen minutes with a twenty-minute allocation for new or inexperienced vets. We tend to allow 30-minute slots for euthanasia, skin problems or the clients who are known to like a chat! An RVN is assigned to the dispensary at all times which saves the vets from counting tablets and frees them up to crack on with the exciting stuff.
Ideally, we’re looking for an experienced vet, but we are also able to support a new graduate (a mentor will be provided) and we’re happy to chat to someone who would like to work on a part-time basis.
This is what we can offer:
- No sole charge or OOH
- A starting salary of £32,000 for a new graduate, increasing competitively with the level of experience or certificate holders.
- 4-day week with 1 in 4 Saturday mornings only.
- VDS and RCVS fees paid
- CPD allowance which is negotiable if it benefits yourself and the practice
- Employee assistance programme
- Free treatment for staff pets and cost price treatment for close family members
- Visa sponsorship available.
We are a stone's throw away from an absolutely stunning coastline and there’s plenty of local nightlife. Newcastle-Upon-Tyne and the historic city of Durham are both a 25-minute drive away. We have great access to both the A1 and the A19 and have some amazing countryside in the surrounding area.
We really do have the best team ever but don’t just take our word for it. Why don’t you come and meet us for a chat over a free lunch and meet our practice cats, Arthur and Annie!
