About Us

The Griffin Institute (TGI) is a leading, not-for-profit, charitable research institute with a vision to improve quality of life and extend patients’ lives. Our mission is to use our passion, expertise, and resources to deliver innovative scientific research and high-quality surgical training for the benefit of patients. We have recently refurbished our facilities. We are based at Northwick Park Hospital in Harrow with its excellent transport links. Over the last few years, we have had rapid growth in our preclinical contract research studies. We are excited to be recruiting for a Manager/Director of Preclinical Services and Surgery who can ensure that we maintain excellent standards for this research. There are a wide range of studies which are mainly on biomaterials or medical devices and include areas such as Neurovascular, Orthopaedic, Wound Healing and Endoscopic. The appointee will create and oversee a strategy for the next 3 to 5 years for the growth and breadth of preclinical studies, setting the framework for the research services provided by the institute and reaching out to potential customers.

Overall purpose of Role

Ideally, they will have experience inputting into and developing protocols for medical devices as well as knowledge of ASPA (animals in science) and GLP regulations. The candidate will also be a strong people manager who can lead and inspire a team, as well as possessing the ability to work with key stakeholders and customers to grow the business. For the candidate with the right skills and experience, there is the possibility of promotion over circa 12-18 months.
