Job Details

South Shields Quay’s Vets4Pets are looking for a small animal vet to join our friendly, experienced team whose ethos is one of supporting each other, being flexible to individuals needs and making work-life balance a priority.

Here’s what one of our newest team members has to say about joining our amazing team:

I cannot recommend Vets4Pets South Shields Quays enough as a place to work.  From my initial interview to starting on day one, I was made to feel completely at home and part of the team. It was clear from talking with the area relationship manager for the North that staff welfare was a priority, but to see this translate into practice was really refreshing. If you’re looking for a forward-thinking practice with a small, tight-knit team where staff welfare is a priority then this is the place to go. Eilidh, Veterinary Surgeon

About Us

We have been established 6 years and are lucky to have lots of experience in both our veterinary and nursing teams.  As a growing practice we wish to develop our offering to our clients meaning this role is a great opportunity for a vet to develop their clinical interests while making their career work around them and their individual commitments.

Our enthusiastic, friendly team consists of 2 vets, 3 RVNs, 1 VCA, our practice manager Vikki and 3 client care assistants.  In addition, we are supported by the wider vets4pets network and have two referral centres a short drive away.  We hold regular clinical meetings to ensure we are always providing the best for our patients and offer 15 minutes appointments which are extended where appropriate.  We also provide protected admin time and you will not need to work any OOH.  We are open Monday to Friday, 9-7pm, Saturday 9-12pm and currently no trading on Sundays.

With an open-minded approach to veterinary practice and an emphasis on well-being we are open to discussion regarding working patterns.  Whether you are looking for full time, part time or specific hours or perhaps have a bias towards consults or surgery- come and chat with us.

Our newly refurbished practice is based in south shields, the finishing point of the famous Great North Run and central Newcastle is easily accessible. This provides excellent transport links and all the amenities you could wish for. In addition, in less than an hour’s drive you can be enjoying the beautiful hills or coastline of Northumberland.

With all the excellent benefits you would expect from a major veterinary employer including fully funded CPD with travel and accommodation included, certificates paid and encouraged, your birthday off, increasing annual leave with each year of service, AXA private health insurance and many more, this is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced vet to join a great team in a role that can be tailored to them.  For an informal chat or to apply please e-mail Yasmin.saeed@vets4pets.com

We are an equal opportunities employer.

Locally owned practices with a world of support

At Vets for Pets we’re a network of practices that are owned and managed by the practice owners that run them. Because they’re locally owned, each practice has the freedom to serve patients and clients the way it thinks is best.

But crucially, being locally-owned also means enjoying a truly team-spirited atmosphere. We want all our colleagues to build lasting relationships with practice owners and team members as well as patients and clients.

And because we’re also part of a wider group, you’ll get all the support you need when you need it. That means state-of-the-art facilities, high quality CPD, financial stability and a real sense of job security.

With our framework, we’ve made it simpler and easier for you to help patients and clients live happier, healthier lives together. It’s about making the most of your expertise and bringing this to life in practise while being safe in the knowledge that you’re looked after too. Simply put, we offer locally owned practices with a world of support.

Flexibility & Wellbeing
You tell us which hours you want to work, and we’ll do everything we can to make it happen. With us, you could enjoy a better work-life balance where flexibility and wellbeing come first.

Training & Development
We offer great training programmes, plus fully funded CPD, leadership courses and access to our group’s learning curriculum. We’ll also support you if you’re interested in owning a practice. With our wealth of resources, it’s easy to build your skills and develop your career.

Local Practices
With us, no two practices are the same. We’re deeply rooted in our local communities and we want you to really get to know your patients and clients locally.

Being part of the Pets At Home Group
Being part of Vets for Pets means you’ll be part of our network of locally owned practices. Our practices are located across the country and are owned and run by our Joint Venture Partners (JVPs). Our Joint Venture Partnership model is unique and gives everyone the best of both worlds. Working within one of our practices you’ll get to work with the JVP who has the clinical freedom and autonomy to do things their own way.

As we’re part of a large respected organisation you’ll also enjoy the benefits of being part of a wider PLC Group. This means we can give you greater stability and job security during these uncertain times and beyond.

What’s more, we’ve worked hard to make sure everyone in our group can take part in a fun, friendly, professional and inclusive culture that allows you to bring your whole self to work and be at your very best.
