About us

St Annes is a busy first opinion practice, employing 10.5 vets and a large nursing team. Our nurses are lucky enough to be supported by a team of Animal Nursing Assistants and receptionists, enabling them to focus on hands-on nursing tasks. We encourage and strive to support staff in perusing their interests and have regular performance reviews to facilitate this. Many members of our team have undertaken further study and we therefore see a varied and interesting caseload.

We pride ourselves on providing 'gold standard' care and have access to the necessary equipment in order to do this: dental radiography, endoscopy, multi-parameter patient monitoring and access to blood gas monitoring. Our in-patients receive continuity of care and are monitored 24/7 as we host Vets Now for all out-of-hours work.

Your role and responsibilities

As a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN), you will rotate around all areas of practice on a rota basis. There is a nurse dedicated to organising the daily theatre schedule and to prepare all patients for surgery, allowing the anesthesia nurse to focus solely on monitoring. In addition, in-patients are cared for by a dedicated kennels team. You will take part in running nurse clinics at our main site and occasionally at our Langney branch. Clinics include administering 2nd vaccinations and carrying out wound care. Laboratory work is common as we run many tests on-site. You will be encouraged to disseminate your knowledge amongst the team on a daily basis and openly contribute to discussions during regular team meetings.

Salary: Up to £26,000 dependent on experience

Hours: Our nurses work 40 hours per week over 5 days. Shift times are variable: 07.30-16.30, 08.00-17.00, 10.30-19.30, 11.00-20.00. There is no out-of-hours work required. You will work one full weekend (Sat 8-5, Sun 9-12.30) and one half weekend (Sat only) in a nine week period.

Benefits

  • 25 days holiday + bank holidays + Birthday Leave
  • RCVS & VDS fees paid
  • External CPD funded and extensive, free Linnaeus CPD program provided by specialists/referral teams both online and in person (covid restrictions permitting)
  • Career progression opportunities

As part of Linnaeus, you will have access to a wide range of funded CPD and will be entitled to 3 days and £500 per year to undertake further study. We provide an excellent care package including 5 weeks holiday entitlement and an additional day off for your birthday!
