Job Details

Veterinary Surgeon required at Moy Vets, Hambleton

The Role

Our close-knit team is looking for an experienced veterinary surgeon to join our growing practice, with shifts across both our locations, which are located 10 minutes from each other. We have a high volume, varied caseload with ample opportunity for surgery as well as consulting.

We cover our own OOH (from home) to provide our clients with continuity of care and high standard service, supported by a nurse. Out of hours are paid on top of the salary, and we offer a birthday day off!

Our 20 minute consults allow for good client communication and proper work up. The day off per week can be a rotating or a set day off depending on preference.

About Us

Moy Vets is a well-established, long standing practice with three branches near Blackpool in the West Lancashire region, with close access to beaches, wonderful countryside and as a bonus we are only an hour's drive to the Lakes District too! We are open 7 days a week across our two main branches, with offering some weekly appointments at our small third branch practice.

Both our locations have digital radiography, Idexx in-house laboratory equipment, dental equipment (we will soon have dental radiography as well!), an endoscope, ultrasound at both locations, a K-laser and plenty of chocolates too!

We pride ourselves on continuously improving, hence we encourage CPD and we will support you if you're wanting to pursue certificates or memberships.

Our team consists of six (multinational) vets, five RVN's, three student nurses, two nursing assistants and fifteen reception and admin staff who keep everything running in the back- and foreground.

Applicant Requirements

Experience is required for this role, and empathy and excellent communication skills are essential.

Interest in orthopaedics, dermatology or ophtalmology would be desirable but not essential, we have the caseload to support these areas if you wish to pursue certificates or memberships in these areas. One of our vets is currently pursuing a medical certificate.

Company

Moy Vets began in 1992 when husband and wife Vets, Mark and Michelle Lingard moved from Australia and built Moy Farm Veterinary Centre on the site of a sheep shed and stables in Out Rawcliffe. With hard work and love the practice grew and then followed the purchase of the Animal Medical Centre in Thornton, the opening of a small branch surgery in Knott End On Sea and the opening of a small branch in Hambleton.

The first 19 years for Moy Vets was as a truly mixed veterinary practice, treating small animals, equine and farm animals. Mark’s illness and death in 2010/2011 led to the sale of the large animal section of the practice. In Mark’s memory the second phase of Moy Vets began as a dedicated small animal clinic. Moy Vets will now continue to provide the same quality, love and care for your pets that you have been used to right from the start.
Here’s to the next 20 years looking after your pets!!!

A caring, dedicated team he people at Moy Vets are our greatest asset. Although the facilities, equipment and availability of veterinary attention are important, it is our team that makes us so special.

All team members are encouraged to take part in further training and continuing professional development, and everybody has an important part to play in the smooth running of the practice.

The vets might be the people who treat or operate on your pet but they could not function without the expert assistance of the nurses; and of course our receptionists are there to make appointments and answer telephone enquiries, and our office staff to keep everything running smoothly.

All of our team are here to help to provide high quality care for you and your pet.
