Veterinary Surgeon
Bitterne Vets4Pets

Our small animal practice in Bitterne is looking to expand the team and is looking for an experienced veterinary surgeon to join this fantastic 12 year established branch.

What we offer:
As you would expect from the market leader in animal veterinary care, we offer a supportive working environment together with career development opportunities, an excellent package and great benefits:
      •    Competitive Salary ranging from £40,000 to £65,000 dependent on experience
      •    4 weeks paid holiday a year
      •    Generous CPD allowance up to Certificate level
      •    Fully organised and funded Working Visa
      •    All bank holidays off
      •    RCVS fees fully funded
      •    Pension and exclusive company discounts and rewards - including 20% off at Pets at Home, and the Vet Group

The role:
The position is ideally for a full-time vet, but we understand how important a good work-life balance is and want to actively promote this. We’re flexible on what shifts you will cover and if you need some flexible hours, we’re also happy to find a solution that fits your lifestyle. There is no OOH, no Sundays and we don’t open on bank holidays..
Just to let you know, our weekday shifts are: 8.30am-5pm; 9.30am-6pm or 10.30am-7pm. We make sure we give back all overtime in lieu. There will be some sole charge responsibilities on Saturdays, so someone who is confident and experienced with working solo would be beneficial but not essential as we are also very supportive of any grad candidates.

About us:
The practice is bright, spacious, and built to the highest industry leading standards. We are a very well-equipped practice including a digital X-ray, a dental X-ray, an ultrasound and an inhouse lab.
Andrew, our vet partner, leads a very experienced team of 6 Nurses and 4 ½ Client Care Advisors who all share a passion for animal welfare. With us having a separate nurse and reception team this means there will always be nurses around to support you!
If you are new to the area, Bitterne is located just off the M3 and within commutable distance to Southampton, Winchester, and Portsmouth. There are also great transport links and on-site parking is available.

About you:
We’re looking for an experienced vet that’s used to the day-to-day procedures of a small animal practice; comfortable with the routine consultations and conditions, building a good relationship with clients and team, and as well happy with the routine surgeries. But if you have less experience or you’re a new grad, feel free to contact us anyway because we’ll be happy to support you in growing your vet career.
We support and encourage independent thinking so you will have plenty of clinical freedom.

Locally owned practices with a world of support

At Vets for Pets we’re a network of practices that are owned and managed by the practice owners that run them. Because they’re locally owned, each practice has the freedom to serve patients and clients the way it thinks is best.

But crucially, being locally-owned also means enjoying a truly team-spirited atmosphere. We want all our colleagues to build lasting relationships with practice owners and team members as well as patients and clients.

And because we’re also part of a wider group, you’ll get all the support you need when you need it. That means state-of-the-art facilities, high quality CPD, financial stability and a real sense of job security.

With our framework, we’ve made it simpler and easier for you to help patients and clients live happier, healthier lives together. It’s about making the most of your expertise and bringing this to life in practise while being safe in the knowledge that you’re looked after too. Simply put, we offer locally owned practices with a world of support.

Flexibility & Wellbeing
You tell us which hours you want to work, and we’ll do everything we can to make it happen. With us, you could enjoy a better work-life balance where flexibility and wellbeing come first.

Training & Development
We offer great training programmes, plus fully funded CPD, leadership courses and access to our group’s learning curriculum. We’ll also support you if you’re interested in owning a practice. With our wealth of resources, it’s easy to build your skills and develop your career.

Local Practices
With us, no two practices are the same. We’re deeply rooted in our local communities and we want you to really get to know your patients and clients locally.

Being part of the Pets At Home Group
Being part of Vets for Pets means you’ll be part of our network of locally owned practices. Our practices are located across the country and are owned and run by our Joint Venture Partners (JVPs). Our Joint Venture Partnership model is unique and gives everyone the best of both worlds. Working within one of our practices you’ll get to work with the JVP who has the clinical freedom and autonomy to do things their own way.

As we’re part of a large respected organisation you’ll also enjoy the benefits of being part of a wider PLC Group. This means we can give you greater stability and job security during these uncertain times and beyond.

What’s more, we’ve worked hard to make sure everyone in our group can take part in a fun, friendly, professional and inclusive culture that allows you to bring your whole self to work and be at your very best.
