The Role
In this exciting position you will be able to work closely with cases and ensure they are receiving the best attention and care. You will be able to be hands on and work alongside our current surgery nurse and clinicians. There will be the opportunity to participate in daily Inpatient rounds where we discuss hospitalised patients and plan the day.

An important part of this role is looking after our Inpatients by helping with wound/dressing care, shockwave treatments and new treatments such as Canine Platelet Rich Plasma.

There will be some client contact as part of this role as you be will be required to contact clients to arrange appointments and arrange admits/discharges. You will help to liase with referral reception, assisting with emergency cases and filtering through advice emails from referring vets and clients.

The working hours for this role are varied and could be 8am to 5pm or 8.30am to 5.30pm (with one late working until 7pm). This equates to an average of 43 hours per week. You will be required to take part in the weekend rota working a 1 in 6 full weekends from 7.45am to 6pm, 2 lieu days would be given the following week in exchange for the weekend work. We have a bank holiday rota in place which means our nursing team are required to work 1 or 2 bank holidays a year. There would also be a requirement to take part in the night cover and on call rota, further information on this would be discussed at interview.
 
The salary for this role is up to £26,533 FTE depending on experience.

About the Team and Culture
Surgery is a friendly and supportive team. It is a busy discipline in which we all support each other ensuring we are getting the best out of each other. You will be working alongside specialist vets, residents and interns. You will also work alongside dedicated Inpatient Care Nurses and Nurses from other disciplines which include medicine, imaging, oncology and neurology.

Applicant Requirements

Required skills and experience:
•    Registered RVN
•    Professional, confident, eager to learn new skills.
•    Hardworking with an interest in surgery (please note this is not a theatre-based position)
•    Enthusiasm, a positive attitude and desire to provide a high-quality care.
Would be good to have:
•    Referral experience (not essential)
•    Good sense of humour
•    Passion and enthusiasm
